A November afternoon on the Mead…
It was an afternoon of low sun, long shadows and towards the end of the walk, fading light. Trees that are losing their leaves. It's November. It's autumn moving towards the winter. It's a time to slow down and reflect on a year that has almost passed. It's a time to take stock and, in what I'm finding is an increasingly uncertain life, to try and plan for the coming year…

The local swans still have five cygnets and they're growing so big and strong. I'm always so proud of them.

Bristol UK - The Clifton Bridge at Night
I.K Brunel's Famous Clifton Suspension Bridge Bristol at night taken by myself in 1960 on a Taron 35mm Film camera (this image is a scan from a 35mm slide)
The Clifton Suspension Bridge is a suspension bridge spanning the Avon Gorge and the River Avon, linking Clifton in Bristol to Leigh Woods in North Somerset. Since opening in 1864, it has been a toll bridge, the income from which provides funds for its maintenance. The bridge was built to a design by I.K.Brunel but completed by William Henry Barlow and John Hawkshaw following Brunel death. It is a Grade I listed building and forms part of the B3129 road, and links North Somerset with the City & County of Bristol at the suburb of Clifton. Brunel died on the 15 September 1859 (age 53 years)
