It's always a little weird to me when people are confused by Tumblr KH fans loving Dark Road so much because like... it's essentially an extremely angsty Xehaqus high school AU. Tumblr users had been dreaming about that since like 2015. Nomura made DR for the they/thems

Lower class and the upperclass of Odin from KH Dark Road are done!

I've been really struggling with the names, some dont have any bc I couldnt find one and some I'm not proud of.

If you have suggestions pls feel free to suggest some in my ask box! :D

So it seems in KHDR's files there are two different versions of the "How to Play" button, but as far as I can tell only the second one is actually used in-game.

What I'm guessing happened is that someone realized that the sprite was mirrored incorrectly and the wrong eye was covered (canonically, Odin is covering his left eye) and had to fix it, leaving the old version of the button in the files.

In fact, looking at old footage of the online version of KHDR from four years ago, I saw the incorrect icon being used then, so this is something they must have fixed post-release. Which patch/version that would be, I'm not sure.

I imagine Odin's damaged left eye will be important in KHML somehow since the KHDR devs were going through the trouble of keeping it consistent even in the UI. (There's a sprite of him in the files without his hat that shows his left eye is...blind?, for clarification.)

Just speeding through khdr cutscenes to find the darkness lore when I noticed something in chapter 7.

Vidar did make it back, and he very clearly told Master Odin everything about what happened. Then he gets told about Kingdom Hearts, which he wouldn’t know to fuck up literally everything to try and save Baldr. In that cutscene we also get the vibes of Baldr breached containment but now I’m not so sure. I think that Odin contained Baldr after finding out he was present and then sent the underclassmen out and contained Baldr on the same day make roughly every chapter a day.

So Odin lied to the underclassmen sending them to find the V gang while having Baldr locked up assumedly studying him like he told Vidar to do. He planted the idea of Kingdom Hearts in Vidar’s head and the underclassmen but for them it was more of an explanation as to what Vidar was doing.

I need to know who Odin really is, because everything he has done caused something to go wrong especially since I now think he knew what happened with the upperclassmen and Baldr and still sent out the underclassmen anyway without telling them anything, and this would mean that he already knew Hoder was dead when he gave the excuse of wasn’t going with them.

That’s just what I noticed and theorize.

Here comes Master Odin! unexpected surprise sketch, but I figured I might as well complete the set (seeing as I’ve drawn Eraqus and Xehanort’s classmates before)

Yeah, that first one is too long, a noodle man, but I don’t like him enough to feel bad about it :p

I did like drawing his hat tho - that’s my favorite part about him - his wizard hat.

Not sure where I’ll go from here, more KHDR? KH? Genshin? we’ll see. May be next I’ll post some of my KHOC sketches, who knows.

Man the tragic irony I should have seen coming but didn't with Baldur is so good.

Baldur is the golden child, brought down low by Loki and a mistletoe spear. his one weakness, in the hands of Hoder, blind to the one item that could hurt Baldur being in his hands.

Baldur is a child of destiny, brought down by his own darkness, his one weakness, and Hoder being too blind to her brothers struggles wasn't able to help him as the one person who might have been able to.

Granted Odin didn't see any of this shit coming either time so I guess the All Father and the Headmaster are blind as hell out of their one good eye
