We’ll likely see Riku's perspective on what he’d kept to himself for a year in Phase 2, including his attempt to put up a brave front despite Yen Sid, Merlin, and Fairy Godmother seeing through the facade.
Imagine the sleepless nights and nonstop searching for Sora, which accounts for Yen Sid, Merlin, and Fairy Godmother’s worry for him. The Riku episode was a good example of that. Imagine his emotional and mental state, and how much he blames himself for letting Sora go alone despite his faith in him.
· Maleficent: ended up in the beginning of KH2, in Mysterious Tower (doesn’t count as a light).
· True Dandelion
· Lauriam: ended up at some point before BBS, in Dwarf Woodlands.
· Elrena: ended up at some point before BBS, in Enchanted Dominion.
· Ventus: ended up around four years before BBS, in the Keyblade Graveyard.
· Skuld: ended up not long after BBS, in Radiant Garden.
· Ephemer? (failed to jump, so may not count as using a pod.)
· Brain? (wasn’t shown, but he had a medium and waypoint in Scala so it’s likely he used a pod and we just didn’t see it.)
Who are the 7 lights of the past?
· Lauriam
· Elrena
· Ventus
· Skuld
· Ephemer*
· Brain**
· Strelitzia
These are the main known characters who originate from the Age of Fairytales era (not including the Foretellers, who are shown as dark pieces symbolising darkness on the chessboard). Each of these characters (except for Brain, unless you believe the theory that he is Luxord) are either openly shown or hinted to be present in Sora’s time, in one way or another. They will probably be vital pieces in the coming games.
*Ephemer stayed in the past in the KHUX finale but his heart or will or whatever was present in the Keyblade Graveyard in KH3 and reached out to Sora to help him defeat the Demon Tide. So his heart at least had to have gotten to that point in time somehow.
**Brain was never seen arriving in Sora’s time in the KHUX finale, but he did time travel to Scala and he promised Lauriam that they would see each other again. So I can guess that Brain will find a way to find the other leaders who arrived in Sora’s time and reunite with them.
Who houses the Darknesses?
The 7 Major Darknesses:
· MoM
· Ira
· Invi
· Aced
· Gula
· Ava
· Luxu
The 5 minor Darknesses:
· Ventus: The unknown voice Sora heard while traversing Ven’s heart in ReMind might be a Darkness. Plus Ventus forced the Darkness that was possessing him in KHUX to merge with his heart.
· Lauriam: Fell to darkness and became a Nobody. It’s possible that a Darkness took advantage of his state and crept into him.
· Elrena: Fell to darkness and became a Nobody. It’s possible that a Darkness took advantage of her state and crept into her.
· Xehanort: Him having one or more would explain why he was so powerful in darkness, and why his replicas (as well as that gigantic Xehanort goat monster) were so hard to beat. This would also mean that one of the minor Darknesses is destroyed, leaving only four more to deal with.
· Skuld?: We know that the Master of Masters planned for the five union leaders to become possessed by the five minor Darknesses. Since Skuld is a union leader, would Luxu force her to become a vessel for a Darkness? Then again, Luxu already told MoM that he disagrees with letting Darkness possess the union leaders, so I don’t think he would put Skuld through that.
Waypoints and Mediums
What waypoints and mediums do the characters have if they time travel?
MoM: the Book of Prophecies/Luxu (waypoint), the Gazing Eye (medium)
Maleficent: the three good fairies, her cloak
True Dandelion: Luxu, ???
Lauriam: Maleficent, flowers?
Elrena: Lauriam? Strelitzia?, lightning?
Ventus: Xehanort, wind?
Brain: Sigurd (probably with Ephemer’s memories) (waypoint), his hat (medium)
Skuld: Luxu (waypoint), stars? (medium)
Ephemer*: Ava or Brain or Luxu (waypoint), his scarf (medium)
It’s strange how Lauriam, Elrena, Ventus and Skuld don’t have a clear waypoint or medium. Maybe that’s why they lost their memories?
*I know Ephemer doesn’t end up time travelling in the KHUX finale, but he does have a potential waypoint and medium and I thought it would be fun to speculate anyway.
me seeing kingdom hearts is trending and learning that we're on the 3rd of 5 planned game realeases that they're calling phase 2. also that I'm gonna have to play a fucking rythm side game where we revisit the first game *yet again* just to get 5minutes of crucial kairi lore
The theme of Dreams becoming important in phase 2 moving forward thread:
While battling Yozora in the secret ending of KH3 Remind, Yozora directly addresses Sora and states, “This isn’t the real world.” Later, in the good ending of KH3 Remind, Luxord says to Yozora, “Impressive, is it not?” just as Yozora awakens.
This suggests that Sora and Yozora's fight happened within Sora’s dreams. This scenario bears a striking resemblance to when Riku entered Sora’s dreams before the end of Dream Drop Distance, where Riku faced the Armored Ventus Nightmare on Sora’s heart station. Moreover, Riku’s dream of Quadratum, where Sora currently resides for an entire year, adds to the intrigue.
Out of the Foretellers, Ava stands out as the one who specializes in dreamwork. We had seen Ava’s exceptional expertise in dreamwork in Khux.
Due to Sora's natural ability to befriend anyone with time (depending on who it is) imagine how his friendship with Strelitizia will progress, since she likely found him if the headcanons are correct, or someone else (Yozora found him).
Like most things in KH that happen off-screen, that isn't unlikely. Most events in KH happen off-screen anyway.
Imagine other characters in Phase 2 having major regrets about letting Sora go alone despite the dire consequences.
We witnessed Riku’s struggles in the Riku episode of KH3 Remind, despite his attempts to put on a brave front. It was evident that he was suffering, adding to Yen Sid’s, Merlin’s, and Fairy Godmother’s concern for him. Riku likely blames himself for Sora's disappearance despite his faith in him.
Kairi likely grapples with survivor’s guilt and blames herself for Sora’s disappearance. If the roles were reversed, and Old Nort had struck Riku instead of Kairi, Sora would have done the same thing with Riku. Sora was going to pay a heavy price eventually for bringing back his friends and Kairi, and his disappearance at the end of the game is a result of that.
I’ve always felt that there’s a reason why we never see other characters’ perspectives after hearing from Riku that Sora hasn’t returned. Imagine how Donald, Goofy, and the others felt after hearing the news.
I’m not against Riku going on a solo mission to rescue Sora, but I actually wanted it to be a group effort because if it weren’t for Sora, none of them would have a happy ending. I'd be fair if everyone in turn saved Sora since he did so much for them.
May it'll be explained in Phase 2 how Sora was found in Quadratum?
Perhaps Strelitzia found him and brought him in because she couldn’t leave him alone. There are so many mysteries.
For instance, Strelitzia mentioned that he had been asleep for seven days before Sora woke up in the KH4 Reveal Trailer. We can only assume that she likely found Sora unconscious on her own or that someone brought him to her. Or perhaps Yozora brought him to Strelitzia, who knows?
