So can I get an au of the Wayfinder Trio mourning the death of Terra?
yes! i love angst but i made myself cry writing this jkslh fkshf;
tw: character death, mention of blood
It had all happened so fast.
One moment she was in the Keyblade Graveyard, running to Ven’s side to shield him from a devastating blow by Master Xehanort- and the next she was catching Terra from falling to the ground.
He had pushed Ven out of the way and took the blow for him, but it hit him too hard and he ended up with a deep gash down the middle of his torso, blood quickly seeping in and staining his shirt.
Tears spilled down her cheeks as she tried to something- ANYTHING to heal his wounds. He couldn’t die, he can’t! The three of them were supposed to live out their days as Keyblade Masters and gaze at the stars together!
She cupped his face in her hands gently rubbed away at some of the dried blood on his cheek and pleaded to him “Terra, please… don’t go. Y-You can’t die on us… not like this. Please…”
The light was rapidly fading from his eyes as he mustered up what strength he had left and spoke just above a whisper, “Aqua… I’m sorry. Take care of… yourself, and…and Ven…”
Aqua barely registered that Ven had joined the both of them, clutching Terra’s hand in his own. She watched as Terra’s eyes slowly fluttered shut after taking his last breath, a small smile left on his lips.
She vaguely remembers how she ended up with Ven at Yensid’s tower. Mickey saved them? Or so she was told. No one knew what happened to Xehanort, but did that even matter anymore? She didn’t have the strength to think anymore.
The two of them would stay with Yensid until they were stable again, but Aqua rarely comes out of the guest room she’s using.
Cornered by Xehanort, Ventus has little to no time to deflect the attack that was coming his way, or so he thinks until he feels himself being pushed back.
The impact he makes with the ground knocks the wind out of him and renders him dizzy for a few moments before coming to. When he does he’s faced with seeing his best friend lying on the ground a few feet away from him, battered and bruised, but worst of all- there was a gaping hole in his chest. The sight of it made him nauseous.
Fear and anxiety drove him to stand up and stumble over to him as fast as he could. Hearing Aqua’s sobs brought tears to his eyes as he closed the distance and clasped Terra’s hand and held on for his life.
Terra slowly turned his head towards Ven and let out a shaky breath, ever so lightly squeezing Ven’s hand in his own. “Ven… I’m sorry… please, stay…safe…”
A single tear fell as he watched the world and light fade away from Terra’s eyes, all the while screaming his name. “Terra, no!! Stay with me! Don’t leave me alone, please! TERRA!”
He cried and cried until there was nothing left.
Ven blamed it all on himself, thoughts plagued his mind, telling him he was the one who killed Terra. If he had just paid more attention, or if he had just listened to Master Eraqus, this wouldn’t have happened.
After some time of staying in Master Yensid’s tower, Ven went mute and eventually fell into a deep sleep; a coma.
He hoped he would see Terra in his dreams.
His legs were carrying him before he could even process what he was doing. All he knew was that he had to save his friends!
Thankfully he made it just in time to move Ven out of the way, but that victory was cut short as he felt cold metal rip into his chest.
He quickly looked up to see Xehanort disappear into a dark portal, quietly laughing to himself. Why?
A stinging sensation interrupted his thoughts as he placed a hand over the wound and looked to see an alarming amount of blood on it. The sight and the sudden pain caused him to lose balance and fell to the ground. His mind was racing as he felt a pair of small, warm arms wrap around him, breaking his fall.
He didn’t know what hurt worse, the injury or how broken Aqua looked as she desperately attempted to cast all healing arts she knew. When none of them worked any kind of magic, he realized his fate had been sealed.
He was going to die here. And it hurt.
As if reading his thoughts, Aqua brought his face up to look at her, telling him to hang in there. He did his best to use his voice but only so much would come out. A little bit of blood pooling in his throat made it hard to communicate anything. With every word, everything kept getting darker.
“Aqua… I’m sorry. Take care of… yourself, and…and Ven…”
Before he could finish Ven took a hold of his hand. Seeing Ven look so broken hurt too. Why did everything have to hurt?
‘I just… want to make things right.’
He had to… he had to tell Ven too, he had to apologize. “Ven… I’m sorry… please, stay…safe…”
Not being able to keep his eyes open any longer, he let them drift shut as he took in one last look at his best friends faces, and thought of happier days. The sound of their voices getting further and further away until there was nothing.
