More Kingdom Hearts double-sided charms! Available at Fanime! Complete trios plus Axel (because he is adorable angry smol)! (Sorry for not updating as I was busy getting these smols finished plus got sick and damaged my arm...not related to each other.)
Roommate (playing Dream Drop Distance): what should I name a flying seahorse?
Me (after about 30 seconds of thought): Neighptune
Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance
Where Inception meets Pokemon
I know its mostly a narrative choice so you don’t have to listen to the same thing twice but I’m still amused that in KH:3D people explain things in great detail, just lay it all out piece by piece, for Sora and then Riku comes along and is just like ‘nah, its cool you don’t have to explain, I’ve got shit to do and can just pick up whats happening from context clues’
Final thoughts on Dream Drop Distance
I actually really liked it. While the story was a bit confusing at times (Because Kingdom Hearts) the gameplay elements combined with the always lovable characterization of Sora and Riku made for an enjoyable play. As I said earlier the Spirit system where you essentially created your own party members was a blast and for the first time since I started this journey through the Kingdom Hearts series I actually found myself grinding for items. And a lot of the Dream Eaters themselves had really cool or cute designs. The Flowmotion mechanic was cool too albeit heavily underutilized and kind of basic. That being said I was absolutely not a fan of the Drop system. Dropping out of the final Ansem fight was a pain in my dick and the entire system just felt stupidly implemented. The worlds you visited were interesting as well. In the good way though. Seeing TWEWY characters in a Kingdom Hearts game was surreal to say the least. And please. Squenix. I beg of you. Stop juxtaposing the super anime character designs of your characters beside photorealistic character models. I thought you learned your lesson about that in KH2. And it was fun to visit The World That Never Was again. While confusing I didn’t even hate the story either which I will not get into because of spoilers. It had some seriously confusing moments but it also had some endearing and awesome moments too. Now I have always hated the numbered score system because a static number can never truly express your full meanings about your level of enjoyment. So in this case I will be blatantly stealing borrowing ProJared’s rating style. So that is why my final rating for Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance is A Friendly Local Diner/10. Sure the food isn’t the best and there are some rough spots here and there but the atmosphere and people are so enjoyable that you really don’t care.
my roommate found a copy of Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance for $2 at a stoop sale so he picked it up for me bc he knows I am KH trash (he is too but not as actively as I am) and I just started playing the game and ???????? what is happening?????????????
the game play is so fucking weird i can already tell i’m going to have MAJOR issues with this fucking “flowmotion” bullshit bc l o l my hand eye coordination is Not the Best
also why must every KH game give us a new enemy to defeat WERE WE NOT SATISFIED WITH HEARTLESS AND NOBODIES??? NOW YOU HAVE TO GIVE US THESE DREAMEATER THINGS????? at least some of them are good and they act like your pets. i’ve been enjoying petting my dream eater (which I named Pugsy) and getting exp for petting it lol
i’m half tempted to look up a walkthrough for this game just so i can get a handle on what the fuck is actually happening, but then I also want to be able to experience this game in all its ridiculous glory without spoiling myself. decisions decisions I suppose
