ID: “we taught others our languages and shared our rituals, / so that they would be woven into the material / of our night and our vigils. / But they took our fire and married / on the ashes of our vineyards. / They took our melodies, they ordered that / the night, its mornings, and all its stories— / they were not ours.” End ID
Legendary British musician Brian Eno, who helped organize and produce the Together for Palestine benefit concert, performs the poem “Oh Rascal Children of Gaza.” Written by Palestinian poet Khaled Juma during Israel’s 2014 assault on Gaza, the poem mourns the 550 children killed that summer. Israel has killed more than 20,000 Palestinian children since October 7, 2023.
