I think academy!dimitri with a crush would act so unhinged it would cause real and visceral concern amongst his peers. Like if his relationships with byleth and dedue were him acting normal then imagine if he were super into someone. Emotionally would be one thing but PHYSICALLY? With that catholic guilt? Wow
What I'm saying is he should have had a crush on claude and he should have been so freaky about it that the other golden deer students started to intervene. Like none of them are the particularly overprotective type but... claude maybe you should spend less time with that guy... i dont like the way he stares at you. Just breathing and staring. For hours if you let him.
Lorenz and hilda start finding random reasons to pull claude away when the two of them are having tea. Leonie and ignatz start interjecting themselves into their conversations. Raphael makes sure they aren't ever training alone whenever he sees them at the grounds (he doesn't really get it but is following hilda's instructions). Marianne starts praying loudly to the goddess whenever dimitri approaches claude (she doesn't really know what else to do). And lysithea straight up threatened to hex dimitri once.
Claude ofc finds the whole thing hilarious. And maybe a little cute. So he has a thing for pathetic men sue him!
(Byleth super doesn't get the issue because obviously dimitri likes him? That's the liking someone stare clearly)
