Khamer: Come to think of it. . . You've always been nice to me.
Khamer: I mean, you listen to all my problems-
Khint: No, Your Majesty, I just simply stand here while you talk. There's a big difference.

The conflict Yemen has displaced thousands of people. Some of them have sought safety in Khamer, in the country's northwestern Amran governorate, where MSF teams are providing medical and surgical care.

The name Eloch comes from Welsh, where it means (roughly) "you go." This can be seen as a reference to him sending Agnès to Caldisla. Furthermore, his full name can be read as a pun on "eloquent scammer," given his use of public speeches to try to sway the opinions of his kingdom. His Japanese name seems to follow a similar play on words. By reading his name in the Japanese order of surname first then given name, it resembles the phrase that roughly means "successfully coaxed" (まんまと丸め込んだ, manmato marumekonda?), which also reflects his act of deceiving the people into believing his words.
I'M FOUR YEARS LATE ON REALIZING THERE ACTUALLY WAS A PUN FOR KHAMER I only realized because I was double-checking his name on the ff wiki, got curious and scrolled down. TBH I had actually been wondering if Khamer + VIII might somehow be homages to FF8 with its plot of time manipulation & 2 important characters surnamed 'Kramer'...the phrase makes a lot more sense though. Aaand it's definitely not a mistaken interpretation once you look at the name of the previous king: "Silvaht Angdis Khamer" definitely sounds a bit like "silver-tongued scammer"...
Who'd you support in time mage vs dark knight?
I might sound like a prick but listen to me, Khamer was on the right there, and I’m going to explain why
So ok, I’ll admit it’s been a while since I saw that scene, but if I remember correctly Khamer claimed that the Grandship’s economy was surviving on literal MIRACLES, like, I remember they found an underwater tresure and something else, and Alternis basicaly admits this is true! Furthermore, Alternis insisnts on keeping full support to kids, I get he doesn’t want them to live in poverty like he did, but if the country goes to shit then the kids will end up living in even poorer poverty!
And if you’re going to tell me that if you help Mr. Dim over here the economy ends up fixing itself, then let me ask you two things, does the end justifies the means? And do you know how inflation works? If the answer to both isn’t ‘no’, then you should know where I’m going with this
Look, by helping Alternis and letting the economy of the Grandship inflate, you’re dooming them to even poorer poverty than before! Because sure, right after that people are buying at those high prices, but what’ll happen when they stop? Market crash, that’s what, with Khamer’s ending the kids get recruited by a carpenter (I think) that’ll take care of them and teach them how to work at his business, not to mention that the economy isn’t doomed to certain death and with Khamer in the council Grandship could fly again someday
How’s that for an analysis on fictional economy, huh?
Catoblepas and Khamer
This is all from the official BDFF anthology which is way better than the manga adaptation itself. Presumably, the anthology’s purpose is to link BDFF and B2nd by expanding on what happened after the game’s ending. You can read what happened to the Black Blades here.
