Today is About You 🎤

As this past week was Africa Week, the girls head to the Africa Heritage Festival in Oasis Springs the following afternoon.

Thyra has the honour of opening the last night's musical performances and brought her cousins along to soak up all the fun and culture (and - OF COURSE - the food). Now, isn't it awfully convenient that Khanyi can now avoid certain people and conversations, in the name of supporting her cousin? 00

My new main sim

So I started a new current household and she’ll be my main sim. For the time being (because her parents have been moving mad), it’s just her, her parents, and her dog, Keiko. I’m trying to plan my content posts so I’ll be sharing more about her and the family soon ☺️

Marcus felt pretty good after the meeting with Khanyi’s lawyer, until he noticed Skylar had stayed behind. He didn’t have an issue with her, so the question that was on his mind was “what’s with all the hostility?”

The two have a brief conversation before they go their separate ways.

Khanyi & her Girls

I’d like to introduce Khanyi’s closest friends. Her friendship group consists of her childhood friend, Elise, and her two cousins, Anissa and Thyra (pronounced Tye-Rah).

Elise Miller is Khanyi’s childhood friend from when they both lived in Newcrest and attended Newcrest Primary School. She grew up an only child to Romeo and Tessa Miller. Elise and Khanyi pretty much spent all their time together and created a bond that would stand the test of time. Elise moved around between Newcrest and Britechester since her dad was the coach for Foxbury Institute’s football (soccer) team, the Foxbury Institue Football Club (FIFC). It wasn’t until partway through high school, that the Millers moved to San Myshuno after Romeo retired from coaching, and wanted to live closer to Tessa’s family. Romeo had no living family members and wanted to be close to his wife’s family. Khanyi and Elise stayed in touch and made sure to see each other regularly throughout the years. Seeing each other through various life events, like heartbreak, career development and now, Khanyi’s graduation. She now works as an undertaker at SIMple Ends Crematorium and treasures being able to work at a place where her personality allows her to flourish.

Anissa Jones is Khanyi’s cousin - the daughter of Doreen’s twin brother - James Jones. Since Anissa’s a couple of weeks older, she’s always felt like they were twin sisters. The two have always acted like siblings, always connecting over being only children. That was until Khanyi’s twin siblings were born a couple of years ago. Khanyi and Anissa share a very close and jokesters family dynamic between each other. Being the creative soul she is, Anissa spends her working life at 1000 Words Art Gallery building a name for herself as the resident artist for the gallery.

Finally, Thyra is Khanyi’s paternal cousin - the daughter of Norbert’s older sister - Maddie Gaye (née Ndlovu). As she’s the oldest of the cousins, she’s always felt this sense of responsibility to protect Khanyisa - much to her mild annoyance. Khanyi and Thyra have always been close and always fought in each other’s corners. The ability to spend time with each other started proving a little difficult after Thyra finally got her big break as a singer around the time the twins were born. Now that she’s a famous, her schedule and career keeps her a little busy. So any chance they get to be around each other, Thyra will do absolutely anything to be there for her cousin. Or at least try to.

We’re going to be seeing more them as we keep track of Khanyi and her escapades.

Crossing Off To-do List Items 📋

It’s the day after Marcus finally asked Khanyi out (and yes, she’s still internally screaming, but externally pretending to be chill). Romantic highs were immediately interrupted by landlord drama, because adult life truly never lets you have a main character moment uninterrupted.

A few days ago, after she lost it on Mr. Whitten, she was looking up local solicitors and landed on Jordan, Moore & Porter Solicitors (JPM), a firm based in Willow Creek, specialising in property and tenancy law. Initial emails led to an appointment for Khanyi to meet with senior associate, Amber Moore. And today she gets to meet the solicitor who she hopes pulls her out of this mess. This whole issue was a source of anxiety for Khanyi and this was pretty evident in her demeanour. Upon meeting Khanyi for the first time, Amber could sense the ‘new to this type of disaster’ energy from her, and given the nature of the problem, she wasn’t surprised. While Khanyi’s thoughts stormed down the path of the “Seriously? Why me? Is this karma or a plot twist?” loop, Amber used her people skills and helped Khanyi relax into the meeting where she was able to get all the details she needed from Khanyi. After summarising the key points and piecing together next steps for Khanyi, Amber calmly says “while I, personally, think your landlord sounds like a pile of wet dung, I think you’ve got a strong case here. Also, kudos for keeping evidence of everything. Now, this isn’t an easy situation, but I want you to know that I’ve got your best interest at heart, as my client. I’ve got your back. Try not to worry so much”. The words “I’ve got your back” echoed in Khanyi’s mind as she said her goodbyes and left the office.

After the meeting, Khanyi checks in with her parents (because worrying is apparently a family hobby), reassures them that she’s still alive and while mildly overwhelmed, she definitely feels a lot better about the situation.

After that call, she was feeling much lighter and started daydreaming about her date with Marcus tomorrow, until she remembered, ‘oh mad! I need to message Jared’.
