I love bumblebees!!!
Am i the only one who gets rly annoyed whenever i see someone hc Tenna as autistic and nothing else? Not even bpd... Or ptsd for getting his arms fking sliced down??
Like im sure im gonna get thrown hate for this post but at this point im just.... So tired that autism/adhd hc and rep in supposedly open minded and marginalized spaces are everywhere to a point of erasure about any other mental health issues or diagnosis. What about all the other personality disorders? What about ptsd or cptsd? What about addiction, what about schizophrenia, what about dementia, what about the different styles of insecure attachements, hell, even i feel anxiety or depression gets often thrown under the rug like its not a serious diagnostic to the same level that autism or adhd are when anxiety and or depression alone can leave serious damage or make someone truly incapacitated. Fun fact, not only adhd or autism makes people stim!! Many other mental health issues do! Theres so many shared symptoms between different diagnoses! Oh did you know depression can make you emotionally cold and distant as well, or literally disconnected from reality? Unable to empathise with others?
The issue is, i believe theres a lot of people who have autism and or adhd within the marginalized group that includes neurodivergence. It's i believe the majority of a minority, and sadly creates a similar environment of lack of acknowledgement within its circle of its own minorities inside of it, the same way the majority lacks acknowledgement towards mental health in general.
I remember once i tried to educate people in an entire discord server about... The fact that neurodivergence includes more than just autism and adhd. Almost everyone was surprised that yes depression, traumas, any "learned" mental health problems are also part of neurodivergence because these sorts of diagnosis also shape your brain forever in an unconventional way. It makes you literally physically neurodivergent, your neurons literally get shaped differently because the body is something adaptable that can transform. People were also even surprised that personality disorders were even part of neurodivergence... to say i was flabbergasted is an understatement... It made me realize just... How much of a lack of education on the matter (mental health) people actually have even in marginalized spaces.
I'm not saying that it is wrong per say to use your favorite character as a coping mechanism and transfer your own struggles to them. I understand that and i believe everyone does that, including me. All I'm asking is for people to stop for a moment and think, view at this whole situation on a larger scale than themselves. And how the over representation of autism and adhd actually negatively impacts other not as well known mental issues, neurodivergences and struggles to a point of erasure. If the only diagnosis youve given/hc to all your blorbos is autism/adhd, i beg of you to try to branch out and educate yourself on other mental health issues. They exist, theyre real. We are real.
And before anyone says anything no I don't have bpd, but Tenna having bpd just... Makes sense and i think he is an amazing character to explore the struggles of someone having bpd (amongst other things). What i have is depression, anxiety and pretty bad cptsd though. I cannot count the amount of time I've felt erased and not heard because people would put a symptom like stimming (and many others) that is normally shared amongst many diagnosis under only the flag of autism or adhd.
And I'm talking about Tenna because hes a good example on the matter and he inhabits my brain 24/7 currently but this applies at large to any fandom, or any sort of social groups be it marginalized or not. People like us are just. Not represented at all. Autism and adhd want to get represented but forget about their brothers and sisters in arms to a level of erasure even in marginalized spaces when in fact were all trying to be more seen and understood.
I'm prob gonna get thrown tomatoes at this but whatever. I'm so tired of this shit. Im sure I'm not the only one who feels this way though. Thankfully i feel like people regarding Tenna in specific are ready to explore bpd and ptsd more though but I guess i wanted to voice out an issue ive seen everywhere in and outside the fandom, in and out of marginalized spaces, again and again.
Well wellity well well, i guess it is time for me to create these twitter and bluesky accounts.....
Also i will take any tenna requests if anyone wants and thank you for voting tenna hes grown now the size of the planet earth. He also deserves it UWU congratulations big guy i hope you know how much you're loved
Kinda tired of seeing the fandom forget that john after saving jack from kidnapping starts really caring for abigail and jack. No, its not ooc to imagine john in rdr2 taking care of jack, mostly after the kidnapping. And lets not forget epilogue and rdr1 John is a whole different man who will kill for his family so much he loves them. And even before, during his semi deadbeat dad era, he is actually more than just that. John is a very nuanced character, so is every character in rdr2. Look at Jack constantly running after his dad, asking constantly for his attention, copying him a lot, down to the finger guns, the hand on the hip and the sassy attitude. He keeps running after John when there are literally ten other available "uncles" at camps to interact with, including Arthur who was being ten times more of a dad to Jack than John. If John was being completely dismissive of Jack, Jack wouldn't run after him. He wouldn't try to play with John if since birth John never played with him. He keeps trying because it happened before, sometimes, John says yes, even though most of the time he says no. This means that, sometimes, John did take him in his arms and gave Jack just enough love for Jack to want his attention.
Am i trying to excuse his shitty behavior? No, not at all. What I'm saying is characters, humans, have nuance, depth, they're not all black or all white. Obviously this sort of behavior from John, of being semi there for Jack and randomly and rarely giving him attention, created a ton of insecurities and attachment issues with Jack, which is something he will sadly carry on in the first game and even into adulthood. And that's without even talking about the damage he did to Abigail. But John isn't all evil, even in his semi deadbeat era, there were some moments of light. There are reasons for characters to behave a certain way, sometimes understanding a character is understanding these reasons without trying to immediately categorise them into evil or good boxes. Situations are often way more complex than we think. And i wish people would remember that humans are never all white or all black.
Slowly suffering as i want to give this big shot the cool art he deserves
