Rain

"It rained yesterday," Naminé said, after they sat together for a while.

"It rains a lot in Destiny Islands," Xion said, still being able to recall Sora's memories of that fact. "Twilight Town does too, sometimes, but not as much."

"I'd never actually experienced rain before," Naminé shared.

Xion looked at her, but she wasn't that surprised. Naminé had spent most of her life cooped up inside.

"Did you like it?" She asked.

"I did," Naminé said. "I'd seen it before, from outside the window. But I wasn't supposed to go outside, so I didn't. I went outside this time. My memories say you can play on it, but I didn't do that."

"Next time it rains here, I hope I'm around. We can play in the rain together," Xion offered.

Naminé smiled at her. "That... would be nice. If you're not around, I'll wait to go outside again when you are."

"It's a deal, then?" Xion asked.

Naminé kept smiling and nodded.

Xion had never thought much about the rain.

Now, she couldn't wait to see it.

Aqua/Larxene - Rain (Written for KH Femslash 2020! - Will upload on AO3 once all the prompts are finished.) Aqua held out her hand and stopped in her tracks, looking up into the sky. Drip, drop. “Oh no.” Larxene stopped with her and looked up as well, squinting her eyes shut as she got a raindrop right into her eye. “Ah shit.” She rubbed her eyes, not missing the low snort that came from Aqua beside her. She wanted to glare at her for that, already having the Hey! stuck in her throat, but Aqua tucked on the hand she held, continuing to walk further. “Come on, before it gets more.” 

Larxene followed her quick pace, seeing the Land of Departure castle in the distance, but it was still a way to go. The rain got more intense by each passing second and Aqua already ducked her head low, covering herself with the coat she wore. Larxene did as well, swearing under her breath as puddles started to form along the way, both of them trying to avoid them as much as they could - all the while their hands were still interlocked, both pushing the other one to walk faster. It became like a small race, and although Larxene was technically faster than Aqua in all instances, she didn’t leave her behind and Aqua kept up with her quite well. Between all the swears she started to enjoy this actually, a grin forming on her face and Aqua on her side started to giggle as well - The castle was right in front of them, they just had to walk up the stairs to it, but Aqua gripped onto Larxene’s hand tight, making them both stop right in front of the stairs. Larxene looked at her with wide eyes, wanting to say anything - but before she could, Aqua stood on her tip toes and leaned into her, wrapping her arms around her neck and kissed her, closing her eyes as she felt Larxene returning the kiss with a grin on her face. And for a short while they both stood in the rain together, holding onto each other with their arms around them, a laughter bubbling between them that led to them breaking the kiss eventually. Larxene ran a hand through Aqua’s wet hair as Aqua still held onto Larxene’s collar, their laughing slowly dying down. “Thanks. Now I’m soaked.” Larxene said to her, her grin still not vanishing, and Aqua gave her one last kiss on her cheek before she dragged her up the stairs, trying not to slip. “You would have been anyways.” Was all she said as she opened the big front door, finally finding a dry spot to rest. They both exhaled deeply at all this laughter, shaking their heads at their playful behavior. … They were more than ready to enjoy a warm night together now, buried under many blankets.

Stars

"Did you know every star was another world?" Aqua asked, approaching Cinderella as she looked up to the sky.

"Is that so?" Cinderella asked. "I've always wondered."

"I hope you're settling well here, I know losing your world again must hurt," Aqua said.

They had offered Cinderella a place to stay after the actions of their new enemies had led to the destruction of many worlds again.

Aqua sat next to Cinderella, at the spot she and her friends had often gone to.

"It's different, now that I don't have a pure heart," Cinderella said, still looking up at the stars. "My feelings haven't changed, but it feels like their effects on the world around me have."

"Well, it's always best to acknowledge your own feelings," Aqua said. She hadn't always believed that, but thoughts changed. After everything that had happened...

"There are less stars in the sky now, right?" Cinderella asked. "My world and many others are gone, and I think that reflects on the sky as well, if you're right."

"We'll find a way to bring them back, like last time," Aqua promised, reaching out to grab Cinderella's hand.

Cinderella looked back at her with a smile, finally taking her eyes off the sky. "I know you will."

Thalassa Shells

Elrena - and wasn't it hard to get used to that name again, after all that time - realised quite quickly that she didn't like Aqua.

That wasn't much of a surprise because, in all honesty, Elrena didn't like most things.

Lauriam was an exception, but Aqua? She was too good, despite tales of a dark side while in the Realm of Darkness.

Aqua's dark side hadn't withstood Sora, but then again, Larxene hadn't withstood Sora either.

The main issue of being around Keyblade Master Aqua, though, was that Master Aqua seemed to enjoy her company.

Lauriam and Elrena had returned after their Nobodies were vanquished, and soon came to the conclusion that they needed the Guardians Of Light's help. And because they were "suspicious", it had been agreed that they'd stay in the Land of Departure for a while.

Elrena wasn't fond of following orders, in case the fact she had betrayed Xemnas wasn't enough proof. She would have been very willing to betray Xehanort if Marluxia had agreed, too.

Loyalty wasn't something Elrena gave to anyone but him, and she didn't think that would change.

If only her thoughts stopped going to Aqua without any notice.

Because she didn't like Aqua.

Even if she couldn't stop thinking about her even during the moments she didn't have to, like during Aqua's visit to Destiny Islands.

Aqua had been gone for a couple days, and Elrena would never say that she missed her, but...

It wasn't the same thing when she didn't have someone to annoy around.

"Feeling lonely?" Lauriam asked, leaning against the wall next to her.

"Why would I? You're here," Elrena countered, knowing exactly what Lauriam was trying to say and not enjoying it one bit.

"I'm not exactly the only person you hang out with these days," Lauriam said with a small smirk.

"If this is you going on about Aqua again..."

"I don't have to, you talk about her enough for both of us," Lauriam smiled for real this time. "I'm glad, you've always been kinda lonely, outside of me."

"I don't need anyone, much less her," Elrena said, a bit annoyed.

And as soon as she said that, Aqua walked in.

Elrena wasn't happy to see her, she was just... Something.

Aqua smiled at the sight of her and Lauriam, and walked until she was standing next to them.

"How was Destiny Islands, Master Aqua?" Lauriam asked.

"Kairi has it handled, I think," Aqua answered. "I hope things have gone well here in my absence?"

"You know us, not exactly known for making trouble," Elrena said sarcastically. "Things have been boring here, honestly."

"Is that so?" Aqua asked with a small smile. Elrena didn't hate Aqua's smile, she was often too serious, and it was nice to see her more relaxed. Though she didn't care all that much either way.

"What, were you expecting us to put fire in the place as soon as you were gone? I'm not Axel," Elrena said. "I actually quite enjoyed myself without you here."

Aqua took something out of her pocket and offered it to Elrena, who noticed it was a seashell.

"Couldn't be bothered to make me a wayfinder and decided to give me a single shell?" Elrena asked, knowing all about the wayfinder story, even though Aqua, Terra and Ventus had left theirs with Eraqus's Keyblade.

"I was going to make one, with real thalassa seashells this time, but I didn't have enough free time to collect more. Keep this one for a while and we'll get there eventually," Aqua offered.

Elrena fought back a grin. She wasn't much for luck charms, but it was nice that Aqua had thought of her while in an official Keyblade Master mission.

She was known for many things, but being subtle wasn't one of them. If she wanted something, she got it. And right now...

Elrena took the seashell from Aqua's hand and used her hold on Aqua's hand to get Aqua closer to her.

"You're not that bad... Master Aqua," Elrena said before stealing a kiss.

Elrena enjoyed a good kiss, but Aqua's face after they separated was somehow better than the kiss itself.

Maybe she didn't dislike Aqua that much.

New Experiences

Maleficent had never expected to work with those... in the light.

But that band of freaks in animal costumes were bad news, and if it meant getting rid of them, she was willing to work with the good guys.

"We need the boy," Maleficent pointed out.

"We have talked about this. We're working on it," Fairy Godmother answered. "Riku and Kairi are searching for him, and I trust them to locate them."

"That's the problem with you people, too much trust. If you need something done, you either do it yourself or do it yourself anyway with some backup from a henchman."

"I thought you were going to help," the Fairy Godmother said.

"Well, well, even you can get annoyed," Maleficent mocked, though it came out a bit too nice for it to have the effect she wanted. Crap.

"I'm rethinking accepting you as part of this group."

"You needed me, your sleep spells are... lacking, quite a bit. Of course, had I known you would use the spell in such a trusting way, I might not have helped," Maleficent smirked.

The Fairy Godmother didn't answer, and instead looked into the fog they had created to check Riku and Kairi's progress.

"They're getting there," she said happily, and Maleficent rolled her eyes.

"If we're just waiting, anything you want to do in the meantime?" Maleficent asked. She would be interested in trading some spells, while she wouldn't admit it aloud, she could probably learn with the Fairy as well as the Fairy could learn with her.

"We could eat at Scrooge's place in Twilight Town," the Fairy Godmother suggested.

"So you're willing to be seen in public with a villain?"

"I'm starting to think there is more to you than I first thought," the Fairy Godmother said, looking fondly at Maleficent.

It was a strange thing to think. Maleficent was exactly what she looked like, thank you very much.

But she hadn't thought she would really be accepted as part of the group. She hadn't even been invited to one party, after all.

Maybe there was more to the Fairy Godmother than she had first thought as well.

Memories Remembered and Forgotten

Xion couldn't remember Sora's memories that well anymore. Her first go at life, it had been in her head all the time, for a while she had even thought those memories were hers. But after being restored, she had slowly began to forget remembering them.

That also meant that, in all honesty, Xion didn't know Kairi. Kairi had been asleep for a year, and after waking up after some grand adventure in the Sleeping Worlds she had gone through with Riku, she had been... different.

Different from the vague imprints of Sora's memories in her head, at least. And that could mean many things, because it had been two years since Sora had gone into his own year-long sleep.

Maybe Kairi was never like that at all. Maybe Kairi had changed during the intervening years. Maybe - and that one was quite likely - Xion just didn't remember her well enough anymore.

Kairi was friends with Lea and Naminé, which meant that now that she was back, Kairi was hanging out with them a lot.

Sora wasn't back yet, but according to Kairi and Riku he was safe and had backup to help him return.

"I had fun today," Kairi said, walking next to Xion, the others quite a bit ahead. Xion liked to walk a little behind from everyone else, but Kairi had slowed down to match her for some reason. "I was wondering, do you mind me being around?"

"Why would I?" Xion asked confused. "I like you."

"Well, yeah, but it's weird, isn't it? Your looks come from me, and I know Naminé had issues with me, though we worked those out. I want to make sure we are on the same page as well," Kairi smiled, somehow looking both relaxed and nervous.

"You don't have to worry about any of that," Xion waved her hand. "I don't mind you being around. Maybe we're not friends yet but..." Xion stopped as a sudden memory came to her. "Kairi, your favorite food is your dad's favorite fish, just the way he makes it, right?"

It was a strange thing to remember, when so much of her Sora memories were gone, but Kairi looked at her surprised.

"I guess you know more about me than I do you," Kairi grinned. "I think I can guess that your favorite food is seasalt ice cream though, right?"

Xion laughed. "I don't know how I remember that."

"Maybe you just need me around to push those memories back to the front?" Kairi looked at Xion. "I think I'll enjoy knowing what else you can find out about me that you once already knew."

"Stick around, then."

"Maybe I will."
