⤿ notes ― i wrote this in 3rd person because i’m testing out the waters for a little bit. i don’t know if i’m going to continue to write in 3rd person. so if this flops, oh well. ( n/n ), means niece’s name and ( s/n ), means sister’s name.

The annoying sound of arguing had filled the air, two shouting voices being heard from the kitchen where two women were arguing back and forth with one another, one much angrier than the other.

The pair were sisters. The one on the left was the older, while the one on the right was the younger one. The older raised her hand, putting it in her younger sister’s face, “I don’t have time, ( y/n ). All I’m asking is for you to watch her for a few hours. This is a last-minute meeting and I need to be here.”

“THEN TAKE HER WITH YOU!” ( y/n ) growled, slamming her hand down on the marble kitchen countertop, ignoring the sudden pain that had risen from the palm of her hand slapping the hard surface. 

The younger continued “I’m tired of you walking all over me, ( s/n )! You can’t keep dropping your kid off here. Especially not when you KNEW I was spending time with Jinyoung today. It’s going to be a while before I get to see him again.”

“She’s your niece, ( y/n ), she’s not just a kid!”

“I love how that’s the ONLY thing you chose to hear from what I said! That shows you like to cherry-pick.”

The older rolled her eyes, grabbing her purse and putting it on her shoulder, “I don’t have time for this. I’ll be back in a couple of ho―”

“( s/n ), if you leave ( n/n ) here so help me GOD, I’m calling, Mom―”

“Love ya, sis. Tell ( n/n ) I’ll be back in a few hours,” ( s/n ) ruffled her younger sister’s hair, sliding out of the kitchen and through the front door in only a matter of seconds like a flash of light.

( y/n ) growled under her breath, before letting out a tired sigh as she accepted the situation. Sitting on the sofa in the living room was a lonesome glittery pink backpack that had belonged to her niece. 

Seeing as it was lonesome, both her niece and her boyfriend of two years had disappeared, probably off to her room. Upon closer inspection, she noticed that it was open, its pink zipper on the other side, revealing the pink fluffy insides of the backpack, which was filled with coloring books, a half-done workbook, a few toys ranging from Barbie dolls to action figures of 90s’ and early 00s’ that she showed interested in much to her mother’s dismay because they were “boy toys”. But ( y/n ) couldn’t deny her niece and got her the action figures anyways, telling her there was no such thing as boy and girl toys, just toys.

The young woman shoved her hands into her sweatpants pockets, muttering on and on about how this wasn’t her responsibility, which it wasn’t, “But I’m the bad guy because I just wanted to spend time with Jinyoung when I haven’t seen him in about two weeks because of our clashing schedules. ‘She’s not just a kid, ( y/n )’ She’s your niece,” She mocked her sister in a funny tone, as she inched down the long hall in both defeat and anger.

She heard an unfamiliar voice coming from her room, making her raise an eyebrow. Slowly, she peered into the room, coming across an expected sight.

Sitting on her bed were two figures, one much bigger than the other. Her niece sat with her legs crossed, sitting tall and proud as she watched the tv across the screen, some old school cartoon was playing and had the 6-year-old’s full attention. In her left hand, she held a ponytail holder for the man behind her.

Behind her sat Jinyoung, brushing the young girl’s hair with one hand, the other holding her hair in place. ( y/n ) blinked at the sight of her boyfriend doing her niece’s hair.

He could do hair? Why didn’t he tell her this? Had he done this before? Many questions arose in her mind as she watched from the door, Jinyoung taking the ponytail holder and tying up ( n/n )’s into a high ponytail. The young man put the brush to the side of him as he braided her ponytail, before clasping his hands together, proud of his work, “Finished.”

A look of glee appeared across the young girl’s face, as she grabbed a small handheld mirror that she grabbed from the bathroom to look at her hair, “Wow, it’s pretty. You did really good, Uncle Jinyoung! I like it! Mom can’t braid so I’ve gotten my hair braided before.”

An involuntary smile appeared on ( y/n )’s face, watching the sight in front of her. She never recalled the two being so close, especially not this close.

“Uncle Jinyoung, huh?”

The young girl and her hairstylist Uncle looked to the door to see just the woman they were looking for. The same smile appeared on both of their faces.

“You two are starting to look similar.”

Her niece hopped off the bed, running over to her and hugging her by the thighs, “Aunt ( y/n ), look what Uncle Jinyoung did to my hair! It’s pretty, right?”

“It’s gorgeous.”

“Now I’m going to do his nails!”

“His nails?!”

A concerned expression appeared on the woman’s face as she looked to her boyfriend, who had only scratched the back of his neck awkwardly, “I kind of promised her, I would let her paint my nails pink.”

( n/n ) dashed out of the room, darting toward the living room where her backpack sat, deep inside the brightest pink shade she had, read as stolen from her mother’s counter.

“A promise, huh?”

“Yeah...you do still have nail polish remover, right?”

“You’re not going to remove my niece’s hard work when she leaves. I’m going to make you suffer a little while longer.

A/N: I’ve never written for him before so I’m sorry if it’s not believable. Hope you like it!

“You okay?” Minsik asked as you walked into his apartment. Instead of answering, you plopped down onto his couch and shrugged. It was a rhetorical question anyway. He knew something was wrong, and he was positive it had something to do with your boyfriend. “Want something to drink?”

“Water, please.” your voice was small. Minsik nodded and headed for his kitchen. As you waited you pulled out your phone. It was a mistake, no doubt. Your messages were flooded with insults and petty threats. Your boyfriend Sam was drunk again. “Fucking hell.” you whisper to yourself. Minsik walks back in.

“What is it?” he asks, handing you the small glass. You shake your head, not wanting to get him angry at Sam. He demands to know anyway. 

“I’m your best friend!” he says to you sternly.  Defeated, and quite exhausted, you hand him your phone. His face grows red, eyes darker, as he reads all of the messages. “Why do you put up with this?” he asks. “How could anyone be so fucked up?”

“He’s not this bad all the time.” you explain. You don’t even believe yourself, but part of you wishes you could. 

“It doesn’t matter, he shouldn’t be like this ever. At all. I’m telling him off.”

“Please, don’t.” you reach out for your phone, but Minsik jerks his hand away. “I’m serious. It’ll only make things worse.” you plead. Minsik sighs, laying your phone down on the couch and running his hands over his face. 

“You need to leave him. I’m not even trying to tell you what to do, but Y/N, you deserve better than this.” you pull on the loose string at the bottom of your hoodie and nod. You know he’s right. You’ve wanted to leave for the longest time, but you never can. “I hate seeing you so miserable all the time. I just wanna see you smiling and laughing again. I would give everything to see you happy.” he explains. Your heart starts to race. 

“Minsik-”

“I’m serious. I’m in with love you, Y/N. Maybe it’s selfish to tell you right now, but I just want you to know that you’re loved.” he says. You look at him for a moment, then reach over to hug him. 

“I’m with Sam, Minsik.” his heart breaks at your words, but his arms stay put around you. He can hear how unsure you are.

Minsik wanted nothing more than to show you how much you meant to him. He tried to get the point across with friendship, but the boundaries of a platonic relationship were too constricting. His feelings for you were too strong. After that night he didn’t see you for an entire month. The only contact you had with him was through texting and social media. He was worried, but after he confessed he felt like he needed to give you your space. 

You had been working up the courage to leave Sam. His drinking was getting worse, his threats on the verge of becoming physical. After a few weeks of getting help and support from others who’d been in the same situation you decided to pack your things. Sam was out with friends and you had at least a few hours to get as much as you could. 

Minsik’s breath almost got caught in his throat when he saw your contact displayed on his screen. It’d been days since you last called. He answered almost immediately. “Hey, Y/N.”

“Hey, I know it’s shitty of me to ask, but can you come over?”

“Of course I can. Give me ten minutes or so.” he says. You smile, thanking him and hanging up. Minsik is over in no time. 

“Hey.” you smile as you let him into Sam’s apartment. “We’ve gotta move fast, I don’t know when he’ll be back.” Minsik looks at the duffel bags and suitcases spread out in the living room floor. He can’t help but smile. 

“You’re leaving him?” he asks even though it’s obvious. You nod, biting you lip and walking forward to grab some bags. Minsik follows and grabs the biggest suitcases. After the two of you get them all into your car you thank him. 

“No need to thank me, Y/N.” he says. “You needed your best friend, so here I am.” You wanted to tell him that you loved him too, but you knew that you weren’t ready for that. 

Minsik would wait as long as he had to, he didn’t care if that meant months, or even years. He was as in love as one person could get, and his feelings wouldn’t be going anywhere any time soon. You were glad to have him in your life. He was the best thing that’d ever happened to you. “Let’s get outta here.” you smiled, starting your car.

I can deadass see this^^^ reaction going on while he shuffles up to you to check whether you’re okay. All the while trying his damned hardest to not laugh because he knew that if he did all hell would break lose and then he would have to buy you some food to make it up to you.

Is probably the most concerned ones. Would instantly ask whether you’re okay, petting your head or shoulders and apologising. Only after all of that caring would he sit down and have a good laugh while poking fun at you. The kind to never let you live it down, too.

“This place is incredible” you chimed following Tablo through the halls of the AOMG office. He laughed seeing you stop off at each of the studios, poking your head inside and just taking it all in. “I can’t believe it. People actually work here” 

Tablo chuckled looking back at you. “You act like you’ve never seen a studio before. YG literally has Iron man in the lobby”

“That’s the lobby...And I mean...the ones at YG are so boring.” you pouted. “These all have such personality. Like the Gray Ground. He named his studio that’s so cool” you were practically bouncing from how excited you were. You’d seen Choice, Kush, and Teddy’s studios but they were far from Wow. GD’s was pretty cool, but come on, it was GD.

Tablo laughed opening the door and leading you into the next room. “If it means that much to you, then just name your studio too.”

“Fine. But I’m demanding YG-PD also give me a budget for LED’s, paint and decor”

“I’ll put in a good word for you.”

“Oh and candy! Gourmet chocolates from Belgium”

“What?” he scoffed

“Ya know...for clients…” you laughed.

Getting to tour AOMG’s studio was a rare opportunity itself, but Tablo was also able to set up a little tutorial session with ChaCha to give you some more insight. You’d been in YG for a few years, but you’d mostly worked as a model and sound engineer. You were pretty familiar with making beats, but they’d always been for you. Just little things that you’d upload to soundcloud.

But Tablo was giving you a feature spot on his album and you weren’t going to let him down.

Hearing your name being called you walked into the main lobby of AOMG, Tablo going through the formalities of introducing you to the artist. Only a few of them were in the office today but you were more than happy to meet Jay, ChaCha, Simon D, and Gray. “It’s nice to meet you guys”

Jay was very friendly and chatty. “So how you likin’ my studio? It’s pretty awesome right?”

“It’s amazing!”

“I know” he chuckled and grinned proudly. “We’re working on having a hot tub put in for our down time.”

“How can you guys afford any more downtime? I’d never get anything done here” you gestured to the grandness that is AOMG.

“What do you mean?” Jay feigned insult. “I have a very productive office.”

“You’re literally on a hoverboard right now”

“It’s my thinking hoverboard.” he chimed.

And as friendly as everyone was you noticed there was one particular person in the room that had barely said a word to you. Normally that kind of behavior made you anxious, but when your eyes met his you could see he wasn’t staying quiet out of rudeness. He’d always greet you with a warm almost shy smile.

Looking at his watch Tablo jumped up. “Oh I gotta go pick up Haru from next door, I’ll be right back. Jay take care of my girl, she’s like a daughter to me” he ruffled your hair playfully.

Jay gave him a thumbs “No worries Hyung. She’s in good hands”

“Keep your hands to yourself” Tablo shouted on his way out.

ChaCha was showing you a few of his go-to program and a few tips and tricks. While going over them you couldn’t help but notice Gray and Jay poking fun of Simon D.

You didn’t mean to eavesdrop but it was a habit you couldn’t drop. Living in Korea was always a strange thing. They see a foreigner and assume you can’t speak Korean, it wasn’t something you always broadcasted since it gave you a chance to hear what people thought of you when they thought you couldn’t understand.

“What’s wrong Hyung? I’ve never seen you so quiet” Jay chuckled in Korean, nudging Kiseok. “You’ve talking about meeting her for weeks”

It was no secret in the AOMG studio that Kiseok was just a little smitten with YG’s foreign model. And one of the reasons they jumped at the chance to do you a favor.

“I’m not shy or anything it’s just. I can’t exactly remember much English when she’s standing there looking all...” his words drifted off as he licked his lips. “She’s just so damn gorgeous…”

“Ask her out.” Gray took a seat on the couch.

“Yeah? Just ask her out? And talk about what on a date? Not knowing English has me feeling like helpless high school boy” he raked his hands through his hair. “There were plenty of things we could do on a date that don’t involve talking...” But he was kinda hoping for a little more for his long time model crush. He groaned rubbing his temples. “Damn...If she only spoke korean..She’d be mine, hands down.”

“How do you even know she’d be interested?” Gray laughed  

Kiseok sighed “Trust me she’d be interested.” Looking over to Jay he sighed “How fast can you give me an English lesson?” 

“Not fast enough”

It took everything in you to not bust out laughing and pay the slightest attention to Chacha’s lesson. Jay continue teasing his Hyung, earning him a few smacks on the arm and you tried to take in as much as you could from Chacha.

Not too long after the door opened and Haru barreled in running to you with arms wide “Unnie!”

You kneeled hugging her and gently smoothed down her hair. “Haru~” you cooed and smiled brightly greeting her in Korean, compliment her dress. Haru continued telling you about her day at school and you responded to each and every one of her little stories. You looked over to the dumbfounded look on Kiseok, Jay, and Gray’s face. And laughed at the blush rising on Kiseok’s cheeks.

Your little lesson with Chacha continued, while Haru kept you two company. As the day came to an end and you packed up your things Kiseok called out to you in Korean, licking his lips in embarrassment. “So…. you speak Korean?”

Laughing you nodded “Yeah, just a little. I mean you don’t live somewhere for this long and not learn anything”

“Your Korean’s better than Jay’s” he chuckled

“Jay’s Korean isn’t very good~”

He nodded and laughed “You’re right” His smile began to falter as he tried to find his courage “So...you heard that little thing huh?”

“Yeaahhhh…. You guys weren’t being subtle at all. I mean, I’m sure I would have understood it even if I didn’t know any Korean”

“That so?”

“Mhmm, you’re really obvious Oppa.”

He stepped closer eyeing you. “I’m obvious huh?”

“Yup” you smirked “So...what were those things we could do on a date without talking?”

He cleared his throat uncomfortably, looking in every direction except for yours. “Um. I just meant um..” he coughed. “Eating dinner...and stuff”

“Rightttt….where’d all that confidence go? What was that, that you said? If she could speak Korean she’d be mine?” you repeated in his Busan accent.

He grinned and nodded. “Alright, you got me. What are you doing this Saturday?”

“Having dinner with you. You’re picking me up at 6.”

“Damn you’re demanding” he brushed his hand against yours “It’s pretty sexy”

“You have no idea”
