Did a little doodle for Humboldt Hot Air, might make a bigger and more detailed version if they're into it for some merch, but actually love how this little first draft came out.

Happy FM-iversary @khha94.7! Here some info about how to fight fascism in Humboldt! Share near and far!
Did a black history month set today, you can listen for the next two weeks on the archive, it was a fun one. I also detailed on air a few reasons you should email [email protected] with your thoughts about their attempt to bring an amazon distribution warehouse to McKinleyville solely for the purpose of same-day delivery.
A few facts if you need a place to start:
➢One of the biggest polluters in the world when we’re in a climate crisis and supposed to be reducing greenhouse gas emissions ➢Well known for documented illegal and exploitative labor practices including denying workers’ their rights, horrible pay, and union busting ➢Their business model is to undercut local businesses, and once they’ve been forced out raise their prices again ➢THEY. SUPPORT. TRUMP. ➢They collaborate with ICE, including letting them use their warehouses as ̶d̶e̶t̶e̶n̶t̶i̶o̶n̶ ̶c̶e̶n̶t̶e̶r̶s̶ concentration camps ➢Supports weaponizing US and israley military and the genacide in Gaz ➢Gets the money from tax cuts that were created by denying healthcare to millions of Americans
If you wanna join the chat, help with templates, do some research lmk. The biggest thing until the public hearing is spreading the word and starting this off with a flood of public comments calling out the county’s hypocrisy. I weirdly have hope about this one, it was really easy to change the minds of the few people I’ve met who were in support of it at first. The masses who weren’t quite there before are starting to get it. Tell your friends, talk to your neighbors, speak your mind, we might just win.
Today was the 100th edition of When You Can't Find a Friend, check out humboldthotair.org archive to listen, Sundays 9-10am. Got to spin my goats 💿🐐🎧
If you're just tuning in, all my shows are playlists I make in my itunes library. Since 2008 I've never stopped collecting mp3s, and every week I go through the archive to unearth old mixes, dig up limewire relics, sort through hard drive dumps from old friends, bring to light ancient bandcamp one hit wonders, pick from my latest thrifted scores, library finds, or curate new songs I hear out and about in my world (usually on the radio.) Eternal thanks to Hot Air for letting me make folks listen to all my favorite music I love having a reason to dive into this massive library, coming up with different ways to connect them all each week, it's just truly a joy to put these shows together.
A secret fact about the show is I will make you a real live mix CD of any of my past sets, or the many themed playlists I've been churning out the past 18 years, or a totally custom mix. I finally got a disc drive that can burn and it's been soooo fun to make this practice physical again. I'm also gonna put my new "love songs for friends <3" mix on yt for the folks without stereo capabilities, will do more by request or send screenshots to recreate on your platform of choice, I hate streaming but I love you listening to human made mixes more, so let's trade!!!!
Special shout out to Stuart for this og '06 treasure, thanks for making a mix for me (but not Jackie Chan), it still slaps.
Take care of each other folks, thanks for tuning in friends.
Played songs off Red Hot Org compilations today, the first of a series featuring tracks from all 21 releases. Since 1990 they've been raising millions for HIV/AIDS causes, and hundreds of amazing artists have been a part of it. I'm always surprised most people I've talked to about it don't know about them so I've been wanting to feature them on my show for a while. All my sets are special but this series is different it that it took a lot of research to go through all of their releases.
The first album, Red Hot + Blue, is a collection of reinterpretations of the Cole Porter Songbook by artists like David Byrne, Debbie Harry and Iggy Pop, The Neville Brothers, Tom Waits, and Sinead O'Connor. Red Hot + Dance focused on the club kids scene with tracks from Madonna, Sly & The Family Stone, and Seal. No Alternative is an iconic compilation of alternative rock in the early 90s that includes Nirvana, The Beastie Boys, Smashing Pumpkins, Pavement, and Patti Smith.
There are so many more artists, more than I can name, I highly recommend this super fun wiki rabbit hole, and they also updated their website semi-recently, centralizing all the track lists and sharing lots of amazing details.
Check out the set on the humboldthotair.org archive for the next two weeks, and tune in live on Sundays 9-10am over the next month or so for more, next week features their indie rock, country, hip hop, and beat poet tribute albums, with Built To Spill, Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Coolio, and My Bloody Valentine, just to name a few. I'm so excited to be able to share this amazing music from this incredible organization with folks.
Humboldt Hot Air is now officially broadcasting over the airwaves on terrestrial radio, so you can tune in to When You Can’t Find a Friend on KHHA-LP Arcata 94.7 FM every Sunday 9-10am on a real deal radio, as well as online at humboldthotair.org, where everything is archived for two weeks if you can’t listen live or live out of town. Tomorrow I’ll be playing songs about the radio, this was a really fun set to put together, I’ve been saving it for over a year and I’m so happy to finally put it out over the literal airwaves.
I’ve been thinking about CDs a lot recently, specifically handmade mix CDs. I uncovered my old CD case from middle and high school and it’s such a joy to look through all the mixes friends made me back in the day. I really miss that practice; picking out songs I loved that I hoped they would love too, arranging them all so they flow together, burning them in my old computer tower, printing out the track list for the jewel case, writing on it with a colored sharpie a cute title or little doodles or just their name. It’s how I started building my music library twenty years ago. It was a love language, an art, and for a while it felt lost. I have a million (14,000+) songs on my computer, but for years didn’t really have a way to share them. Now that’s how putting together my show each week feels, like making a mix for a friend, exploring my archive, making connections, and putting together songs I just want to be heard out in the world. I have a lot more feelings about the radio and how it feels like DJs have become old friends who make me weekly mixtapes, but I’ll save that for the airways tomorrow, thanks for tuning in friends, wear a mask, get the vax, free PaIestine, take care.

My brother wanted to see a post from my blog so I opened it and he saw the blog name on top of the screen and asked my why don't I be something like thta on tumblr, cos you know, Liisi and Khaleesi and I like Game of Thrones and stuff... Haha, I just laughed. He didn't understand that it was my blog. I bet he doesn't really know how Khaleesi is written. I didn't tell him eighter, cos, you know... He doen't need to know... :D
I wish my very old speakers had a note on them which one is left and which is right, because I have switched them numerous times based on which singers voice should come from which speaker and they are still wrong.
We should really get new speakers, because one only works when the wire is in the right position on the other one :), just like headphones do :)
