Today was the 100th edition of When You Can't Find a Friend, check out humboldthotair.org archive to listen, Sundays 9-10am. Got to spin my goats 💿🐐🎧

If you're just tuning in, all my shows are playlists I make in my itunes library. Since 2008 I've never stopped collecting mp3s, and every week I go through the archive to unearth old mixes, dig up limewire relics, sort through hard drive dumps from old friends, bring to light ancient bandcamp one hit wonders, pick from my latest thrifted scores, library finds, or curate new songs I hear out and about in my world (usually on the radio.) Eternal thanks to Hot Air for letting me make folks listen to all my favorite music I love having a reason to dive into this massive library, coming up with different ways to connect them all each week, it's just truly a joy to put these shows together.

A secret fact about the show is I will make you a real live mix CD of any of my past sets, or the many themed playlists I've been churning out the past 18 years, or a totally custom mix. I finally got a disc drive that can burn and it's been soooo fun to make this practice physical again. I'm also gonna put my new "love songs for friends <3" mix on yt for the folks without stereo capabilities, will do more by request or send screenshots to recreate on your platform of choice, I hate streaming but I love you listening to human made mixes more, so let's trade!!!!

Did a black history month set today, you can listen for the next two weeks on the archive, it was a fun one. I also detailed on air a few reasons you should email [email protected] with your thoughts about their attempt to bring an amazon distribution warehouse to McKinleyville solely for the purpose of same-day delivery.

➢One of the biggest polluters in the world when we’re in a climate crisis and supposed to be reducing greenhouse gas emissions ➢Well known for documented illegal and exploitative labor practices including denying workers’ their rights, horrible pay, and union busting ➢Their business model is to undercut local businesses, and once they’ve been forced out raise their prices again ➢THEY. SUPPORT. TRUMP. ➢They collaborate with ICE, including letting them use their warehouses as ̶d̶e̶t̶e̶n̶t̶i̶o̶n̶ ̶c̶e̶n̶t̶e̶r̶s̶ concentration camps ➢Supports weaponizing US and israley military and the genacide in Gaz ➢Gets the money from tax cuts that were created by denying healthcare to millions of Americans

The biggest thing until the public hearing is spreading the word and starting this off with a flood of public comments calling out the county’s hypocrisy. I weirdly have hope about this one, it was really easy to change the minds of the few people I’ve met who were in support of it at first. The masses who weren’t quite there before are starting to get it. Tell your friends, talk to your neighbors, speak your mind, we might just win.

Jan 15th:

It's been constant just when you thought things couldn't get worse forever,

but this time feels like it's reached another level right? It's not just me being dramatic? 

I think it's just crossed to something like, we've been warning if they don't stop this here's what's going to happen, step by step, 10 steps let's say, and I knew we'd prob reach step 8 cause they kept not stopping it, and people would get hurt and die and it'd be horrible, so then they'd see we were right and stop it just in time before we got to step 9, surely we'd never reach step 9. But I think we just got to step 9. Which makes me

you can know your rights and do everything right as legal observer and ask for the judicial warrant and badge numbers and all the right things, but that only works if they care about pretending to follow the law, at least when other people are looking and documenting, now they're just openly saying we're not following any laws we don't like and rules don't apply. 

My dad said, we're in quite a pickle to put it in baseball terms. I was like no, in baseball terms it's like the one team has all run onto the field to beat up other team with bats, and also any umpire who tells them that's not how you play the game, and all the fans on both sides if any get in their way.

i watched the video from mpls, remember a few weeks ago when i said from what my friend is sharing i feel like this time is different, well i think i was right, like usually after a police murder the timeline would be by now things have started to back off or at least plateau and then they do a bullshit trial and then do it over again somewhere else, not the same force immediately doing an even worse murder after weeks of escalations and outright denial of the law applying to them.

someone shoots ice, they immediately execute him, or try to act like the law applys/use it as excuse for escalation, but more and more ppl won't buy it as long as incidents continue

some ceos wrote a letter, bs considering their power to just implement financial consquences, but unexpected. nba issued statement too that was not as white washed as the before times

back to covid comparisons in terms of feeling like something big with a lot of hype is actually going on energy, if good is like when the first few mainstream/largers entities shutting down, then peretti is like the day sfo and the city shut down, w many to immediately follow within days.

Ink and watercolor

Huge thank you to @quezify for championing this eggcelent prompt. I haven't painted since last Eggtober, but this time I painted more than I have in years. I don't know what it is about fried eggs that's so compelling but I'm so grateful to have a muse that inspires me, and it was the perfect exercise in not being concerned about the outcome and just enjoying the act of creating. I used to study the color mixing page in the big Richard Scarry book like it was the bible, and one of my favorite things to do in kindergarten was help Andrew Sutherland's mom mix the paints for everyone. Just a lot of joy playing with color. I've already continued into Eggvember since I'm on a roll so I'm gonna keep running with it while the fixation is fixating and there are so many combos I still want to try. I also need to start to redistribute lots of eggs now that they are documented, so reach out to dibs your faves.
