" One who serves
.... becomes the master. "
- Nizamuddin Auliya
Realize that your ultimate purpose is to be who you are and to be in service. If you can shift your awareness to find those moments each day when you are able to offer yourself in service in small way then affirm “I am on purpose”. This will shift your whole energy field.
Khidma (serving others) with love for the sake of love, without being asked, because you want to be a useful beneficial Muslim is a Maqam that opens removes Veils very fast from the Heart.
Surely you have heard the saying:
“The master of the people is their servant.”
As for you, you do an excellent job when it comes to serving yourself, your spouse and your children. You are very stingy with your money in relation to the poor, although you spend it freely on your personal whims and selfish interests. The benefits you enjoy will very soon be in short supply. How can you expect to receive the grace of Allah (Almighty and Glorious is He), when you keep spending His blessings on acts of sinful disobedience against Him?
You must practice the reality of Islam, so that faith [imaan] may come to you, and then conviction [yaqin], direct experience [ma'rifa], intimate conversation [munajat], and confidential discourse [muhadatha]. Be sensible! Do not be satisfied with the outer forms, devoid of their spiritual contents. Perform your duties, and do so with sincere devotion, for then you will be saved.- Sayyiduna Shaykh Abdul Qadir Al-Jilani رضي الله عنه
" High and low, enemy, neighbor, the Friend .... serves them all. Whoever wants to spread this word must first go ... out of his home. " - Yunus Emre (may Allah sanctify his secret.) ( from poem: One Who Is Real Is Humble/ book: Quarelling with God: Mystic Poems of the Dervishes of Turkey )
SERVANTHOOD and what it is
Teachings from Mawlana Sheikh Nazim Adil Al-Haqqani may Allah sanctify his secret.
SERVANTHOOD
The aim of our existance through this world is servanthood. Heavenly support may only be reached through servitude, which is the reality of your life, ( and no-one knows!). Being a servant for our Lord Almighty Allah is the only true reality of our being in existance. If you know, you will be asked what you did with that knowledge. This is perhaps the most important point through the life of man. It is the highest honour for mankind to be His servants, and there is no honour above this. Try much more to honour and respect your Lord. For as long as you are respecting Him, you will be honoured and respected, here and hereafter. It is easy. It is reality. Not imagination SubhanAllah! Everything from goodness and badness, is a test for mankind because they have been chosen as divine servants. Like an astronaut who cannot go to space without difficult testing and training first. So what about for heavens? If you want to leave the level of animals you must be tested until accepted by the Awliya then prophet (SAW) then by Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala. Then He dresses you to be a divine servant. Look to yourself. Leave the level of animals, then reach to heavens. Allah Almighty is warning His servants, "Listen to me and my Last Prophet ( SAW) who was sent to give you perfection and prepare you for my divine service." You know it or not?! Everything was created for a purpose. Donkey to carry your load. Dog as your guardian. Sheep for your eating and drinking. For what were we created? For divine service and nothing else! Islam came to make people clean. If you are asking to be a clean one, then you must say to Allah, " I am your slave." But He Almighty doesn't accept that we are His slaves. He says, " I am honouring you to be my servants, for my divine presence." ( So you must feel proud for this, like someone who works for the king) He is calling you, " come and take your place in My divine service. O My servant. To where are you running?" ( to a dirty life, ego and after Shaitan). Why are you refusing? Don't refuse! People have lost their minds, or they are not using their minds, so they leave them to be destroyed. ( People are using perhaps only ten per-cent of their mind) You were created and your mind was granted to you so that you use all of it. Why not using? ( Because ten percent is enough for fulfilling our physical desires.Finnished!) And why were we given the other ninety percent? This large part which we are not using. It is for our divine service. The largest part of our mind is to prepare ourselves, our feelings, our physical being, and our souls, to be a perfect servant in divine presence. But we take no care, and we leave it. People die and at least two thirds of their minds were never used! We must only keep His glorious servanthood for a short time. Ask from Him for more power, to be for Him, and not for dunya . When you say, " La illaha illallah, Muhammadan ' Abduhu was Rasuluh" and you are accepting Muhammed (SAW) as your Lords servant you must also say, " O our Lord! I am also your servant." If not no Shahada. No. Not accepted. That is the wisdom, of the order to say those words. To say, " Also I am ' Abd." ( The servanthood of Muhammad is not a problem!) Our ego kicks like an animal and doesn't accept to be a servant . TAKE ONLY WHAT IS NECCESSARY FROM THIS WORLD, THEN LEAVE THE REST OF YOUR TIME AND EFFORT FOR ALLAHS SERVICE.
