( And such consequences involved a good stabbing. ) But this was mere playful, nothing of the serious kind.

                “  cos,  come  on!  ”    one  hand  firmly  in  his,  she  all  but  drags  him  along,  laughter  spilling  from  her  lips  as  she  does,  pointing  out  various  spots  that  made  the  forest  of  camp  nightwing  so  particularly  interesting  and  cosmo  worthy.    “  check  this  out,  mr.  ghost  man.  ”    though,  she  halts  in  her  tracks  before  she  can  make  it  to  where  she  meant  to  take  him.  she  can’t  remember  the  oddly  placed  piles  of  dirt,  gaping  holes  in  the  ground  where  someone  had  dug  them  out  of.  she  frowns,  and  in  that  moment  forgets  whatever  they’re  meant  to  be  doing.    “  that’s,  like,  so  weird.  i  was  here,  like  …  two  hours  ago,  or  something,  and  these  weren’t  here.  ”

that’s  not  the  response  he  wants.  he  wants  cosmo  to  yell  and  scream  at  him,  to  get  violent,  to  fight  him  with  all  hes  got.  he  knows  cosmo  can  fight,  he  knows  cosmos  capable,  and  jasons  been  thriving  on  the  idea  of  a  fight.  he  wants  to  feel  the  pain  of  a  punch,  wants  the  angry  screaming,  for  everything  to  finally  bubble  over  and  cause  even  more  chaos  than  before.  he  wants  to  be  hated,  wants  to  burn  every  bridge  and  leave  himself  entirely  alone.  that's  how  it  was  in  the  days  of  the  lab,  some  part  of  him  yearning  for  that  feeling  again.  so  with  a  grunt  he'll  shove  cosmo  backwards,  or  at  least  he  tries  to.  cosmos  got  a  foot  of  height  on  him  and  jason  knows  he's  strong  enough  to  withstand  a  shove  from  an  eighteen  year  old  with  a  substance  problem.  but  still  he  tries,  even  goes  in  for  a  second  shove.  ❝  fight.  ❞
