Pirate AU Kibshari headcanons

They met after Kiburi first started a mutiny against Captain Makuu and essentially disbanded from the crew. After his plan to throw Makuu overboard failed thanks to Kion’s naval guard (Simba had nothing to do with it), Kiburi and his followers found Ushari’s tavern to get a drink. There, Kiburi started ranting/venting to Ushari, who was like “hey if you’re looking for a ship, I know where you can get one”. Next time he saw Kiburi, the croc had successfully stolen the ship he suggested AND spent most of the money he pillaged on the tavern. Ushari’s business wasn’t the most popular then but he made BANK that day

And yes, Kiburi DID say “I like how you think” to him…to which got the skinks to go “Ooooooooh~”

Quickly became close friends by bonding over their rough upbringings

Ushari fell first and he fell HARD, although he did his best to keep it professional in front of others

They got to dance together under the moonlight while at a party. Almost everyone had a partner or at least something to do, except Ushari. Kiburi nonchalantly asked him to slow dance after a little bit of chit-chat and Ushari agreed. With how they were looking at each other and how Ushari rested his head on Kiburi’s chest, the other pirate captains were like “wait do they have a thing?”

Kiburi also fell for Ushari during that time but if anyone brought it up, they were scraping off barnacles off the ship

So you know how all the pirate captains have a “Captain’s Log”? It was no different with Kiburi. But in his entries, you can find a few sentences talking about Ushari here and there 😏

Thinking about Ushari became a habit for Kiburi, as he’d be writing about how his quest is going when all of a sudden his mind wanders to Ushari, realizes what he’s doing, and snaps out of it

First time Kiburi saw Ushari sword-fight, he couldn’t stop staring. Straight up the hottest thing he’s ever witnessed

They had their first kiss one late night in Ushari’s inn. Kiburi’s crew had just gone to bed and the skinks had clocked out. This leaves Ushari and a very tipsy Kiburi alone, where they start flirting with each other. The flirting turns into Ushari initiating a simple kiss, making him apologize for being unprofessional until Kiburi kisses him back. Kiburi slept in Ushari’s room that night (and I mean that in the most SFW way possible)

Talked about this with Spinny, but the two finally confessed their love during and after this scene. Before Kiburi was about to be hung, among telling his float to take care of themselves, he said “and tell Ushari I love him”. After he, Janja, and Reirei were released, Ushari slithered up to him and gave him a hug. The two confessed to each other after what seemed like ages and shared a passionate kiss

When Kiburi invites Ushari on an adventure, their dynamic is that of a married couple who can never get their alone time cuz their kids always get into trouble
