I JUST realized Makuu and Kiburi had completely different reactions to seeing Scar for the first time

First there’s Kiburi who, unsurprisingly, looked downright terrified at first. So much so, he actually showed an emotion other than annoyance lmao

And then there’s Makuu

It’s so brief cuz the creators wanted to show everyone’s reactions but he looks kinda…annoyed? He just glares at him and nothing else, almost like seeing an evil ghost is an inconvenience

Honestly, this is making me think of how Ucheshi would react to Scar. I feel like it’d also be the opposite of her brother. I kinda like to imagine Scar would want to recruit her at first upon hearing how she outsmarts the rest of his army in her hc episode, but when he meets her face-to-face he straight up regrets it lmao.

No bc she’d piss him off the minute he appears in front of her. He dramatically appears like “Welcome, Ucheshi~” AND HER FIRST RESPONSE IS

“….Oh. That’s what you guys are scared of?”

“Is there a problem?”

“Oh no, not at all! I just thought you’d be a little more…intimidating? You know, like the old king, Mufasa! Oh, I’d LOVE to meet his ghost someday! Even saying his name is kind of intimidating.”

And meanwhile, the rest of Scar’s army is like :0 while Kiburi looks like he wants to die 😭

Makuu has my favorite character arc of any tlg character, and I love watching him grow throughout the show!

This was my original human design sketch of him that I never posted!! Makuu going from a brash young leader who would only fight for the crocodiles to someone willing to train other Pridelanders to protect their home?? Goodness I love him so much. Total trans guy energy too.

Hahahaaaaah I adore Kiburi cuz he truly is a slimey bitch. Like he betrayed Makuu, used a mashindano as a distraction for an assassination attempt, then left the float with a bunch of crocs. They left and went to the OUTLANDS too. Like they hung around in the worst place POSSIBLE so I can only imagine that they thought they might have a chance at either rejoining Makuu’s float or taking over their watering holes. If not that then why didn’t they head to the backlands? Why not take over Dhahabu’s watering hole?? They stuck around just to fuck with everyone. Then to serve in Scar’s army with Ushari. And you KNOW they suffered under Scar’s rule.

Makuu is like. Top five tlg characters. I love him. Kiburi is probably top ten. Tamka and Nduli are sweet, and dense as rocks, but I think they're great. Not my favorites by any means, but they’re fun at least!
