Kid Flicks

The Athens raised (though London based) Kid Flicks summarises his sound as ‘plunderphonic pop’, which is a better descriptor of the technicoloured, dreamy synthesis in his tracks than we could’ve come up with. The welcoming turquoise waters of his birth place (the Greek island Lefkada) come to life in his reappraisal of the sort of wonky pop that Animal Collective made a name for themselves with.

Traditional Greek music meeting electronic pop in kid flicks’ unique sound. This is definitely for fans of Discovery (circa 2009, LP) I’m always happy to run across these hidden gems of songs on SoundCloud!

Strange how this tape would include "The Big Bad Wolf", since the cartoon already appears on a Kid Flicks tape titled "The Big Bad Wolf" (which I featured on my Tumblr last week). Also notice (on the back cover scan) that the box for this title has flaps on the top and bottom.

For the next five days, I'll be highlighting tapes released by Interglobal (later reissued by ABM) out of Canada. These tapes were sold in both Canada and the United States. The secondhand copy I found of this Bugs Bunny title had a Viking Video tape in the box, with "Kansas City Kitty" handwritten onto the label. Luckily, I have an Ebay picture of the correct tape, with the oddly titled "Volume A" on the label.
