127 or so years after the Dracula business, Mina just could not escape vampires. Some of that of course was her fault. She’d gone into monster hunting when everything had happened. The rest was media. The false book written about her had been a hit. The even worse adaptations came through every few years. Dracula stopped being an immovable emotionless monster with red eyes and he was instead turned into a caricature with a big black cape and a thick accent who could die by sunlight and a stake through the heart.
Even if she had just stayed in society and found a nice little home tucked away somewhere then she’d be still surrounded by what he did.
She was a damsel in most of the movies, a reincarnated wife was a favorite for adaptations since the 90’s.
Teenagers liked Twilight and Supernatural. Before that it’d been X files. before that it was Kolchak, before that it was Dark shadows. Some even grew up and went into hunting because of those shows.
Mina barely got into that type of media. She knew they weren’t accurate and watching a movie about her own trauma that didn’t even try to get right was unacceptable
But then Daniel Molly goes to publish his interview he says is real and it’s like her whole world gets dumped on its head. It must be something if everyone is talking about it.
So Mina read it. And things were a little too accurate for her liking. Everyone else seemed to think so too. This would mean either one of two things: vampires would go further underground; which fine by her. Or they would act out.
So she did her research, realized he was respectable. Saw his introduction for his master class in journalism and went to find him. She tried to watch as many interviews afterwards as she could. One thing she noticed is now he hid his eyes. Which could mean nothing. maybe this was his “cool man” era. Or it could mean something worse. It could mean he wasn’t human anymore.
So she tracked him down, wore a pantsuit to pretend she looked professional and gave her best rendition of a big eyed innocent smile as she offered her copy of his book to sign, “Mr. Molly? Quite a fan”
