Chapter 7, Page 17
Check out the evolution (and variety of finishes!) for one kidlit comic spread! From top to bottom we have:
Spot color-Ink on Watercolor Paper
Black and white lineart
Digital Shading
Digital Watercolor
Traditional Watercolor
These are for a kidlit comic cookbook pitch I’m working on, and I have more sample pages in the spot color style. This cookbook is a combination of family Cajun and Creole recipes and short stories about life in Louisiana, told over the course of a year. Mardi Gras parades, festivals, catching frogs, and eating delicious food. I want to share my culture with the rest of the country to help dispel myths about Louisianians, and celebrate a really unique American lifestyle. I think sharing delicious foods from my own family is a great way to do that! I really want this to be a wonderful cook together, read together experience for elementary school kids to enjoy with a sibling, parent, or guardian. If this seems like a fit for your publishing house, please feel free to email me! And please share it- the more people who see this, the more likely this project can find a good home.
