wow I can’t believe tomorrow is the birthday of all lesbians
this is one of the most attractive things ive ever seen in my life and it is on my mind 24/7 btw.
der tod literally got nerfed like hes a mf overwatch character.
like there is a reason he obtained the cult fanbase. and over time they have just been taking away the things that make tod TOD. like from the dress and costuming to his relationship w rudolf. HELLO THATS WHY UWE AND MATE are worshipped as tod,,,, because they still had the characterization and choreography / blocking that current ‘elisabeth in concert’ tods have had taken away from them.
the gender fuckery added so much. to the character and taking away that gender-fluidity takes away some character,,,, then we take away more character when the Kiss Of Death only applies to women. its supposed to make people uncomfortable both times we see it in the show, we’re supposed to be watching someone die.
i would do sinful things to the person who choreographed the mayerling waltz (the og for uwe with the twirl fucking ICING ON THE CAKE) .... the chase for the gun, the fact it feels like a dance, just the overall Flow and wave-like desperation in it, how we see him stumble across stage in a pendulum like motion, how he struggles so much to make the choice (mentally) to take the gun (since we’re seeing the struggle portrayed physically), how the chorus is dressed like tod but inevitably its Actual death that takes him, how death in takes him in his arms and dips him leaving him beneath him, and the kiss of death. it is one of my favorite musical choreographies ever, it is just genuinely so perfect it tells rudolf’s struggle without even having to watch the rest of the musical, you can grasp that from that single number.
i need someone to make a video essay comparing sarah ruhls eurydice and anaïs mitchells hadestown…. like i need to hear why their takes on this myth are such twin flames and what about the writing and production design of both makes the retellings so effective
im so glad they casted someone actually hot for lestat this time around bc watching iwtv 1994 was a constant moral dilemma of ‘this man is not attractive in the slightest facially (hair and clothes Yes) BUT his characters actions and way of speaking is’ and it didnt match up.
anyway i am finally getting around to ivwtv 2022 and…. it is matching up hes so horrible and babygirl and im only on episode one i cant wait for him to get worse and more toxic to one another <3
