Character description post for SOMEONE because I have needed to make this for literal months and haven't. I am starting with just Kieran and Emil but I do have some descriptions for the others written somewhere too.
So Kieran is an aasimar which means hes part human part "angel" with angel being another fantasy race and not just like Christian Lore angels but they share resemblance. If I decide to get into the different types of aasimars and angels he will be a solar assimar, so hes very associated with gold and golden hour type of sun rays and shit to me. BUT as far as what he looks like he is tall, has pin straight white hair (sometimes this changes to like a silvery or golden-y type of white, idk yet). His hair is sometimes in braids, either because the pair or someone in the group has braided it which will come out a little random and loose sometimes but he likes it anyway, or when he is crowned it will be in elegant sort of designs. I don't think he has someone to braid it for him I think he sits and practices trying to copy how he's seen his mother's hair when he was younger or maybe through books. Honestly I think Emil could try to help by finding books and sitting with him and taking over when Kieran got stuck despite neither of them having more than a basic understanding of how to braid. So his hair is sometimes braided, sometimes badly or loose and uneven, sometimes in various designs.
His skin is bronze, but in a very specific way. He kind of looks like if you put gold shimmer on dark brown skin, it shines more in the sun in a shimmer way and Not a glitter way. Basically hes kinda shiny gold in the light but without the lighting he looks like a kinda gold dark brown. ANYWAY Its very specific and I am moving on. He also has solid bronze hands and feet and I am still unsure if they look different than the rest of him but they do feel different like they are made of bronze and hard and are usually cold. His fingers are also weirdly long like not inhuman just long and weird. His fingernails are usually short but I think he grows them out when he is crowned. He is also kind of weirdly elegant and feminine sometimes like he is definitely built slender naturally but then bc of circumstances and life he does have muscles but not in a Beefcake sort of way.
Kieran wears a mask that is like that stiff mesh with hard boning to make the framing of it. It goes over his eyes and you cannot see his eyes when he wears it. I will add a picture of this because theres this lady that makes these masks and when I saw her shop I was like thats EXACTLY what I was imagining. I also like the think of different shapes the masks could be in and designs in the mesh. He can see through them but I do think it probably impairs him somewhat and when he takes it off he def has to get used to lights being so light and shit. He doesn't take this mask off ever until the first book because he considers it dangerous and even once he does, he still wears it most of the text. Underneath the mask, his nose has a big bridge bump and is crooked from being hit with his mask on and not allowing it to heal correctly bc he couldn't take the mask off. I think he has a decently strong jaw line? I want him to look intimidating and sometimes very like royal and powerful but also he HAS to be able to yearn with his face. He looks very stoney and hardened but he has the ability to look at Emil with the softest most wanting expression you have ever seen that barely even changes his face. This is why Dev Patel was in the rotation for how he looks because of his face but he doesn't Quite fit what he looks like in my head. But by god can that man pull out puppy dog eyes. Anyway. Strong jaw likely, strong eyebrows. His eyes are like a milky white-gold all the way over it, no pupils or whites of his eyes just fully one color that maybe shifts and swirls idk.
Fallen aasimar's eyes look like silco's one fucked up eyes in arcane or that set of eyes you can use in bg3 that look the same. Not just color with the whites being black instead but the way the size and shape is off and the black kinda bleeds in to the color and all that shit. Kieran thinks hes fallen and thats (part of) why he wears the mask, its a tell to see who is fallen or not. Kieran also wears a lot of layers to hide, he has a hooded cloak and wears a lot of loose fitting layers that are all black. Fantasy emo creature. Imagine running into this in the woods.
Later in the series when hes crowned, he wears a lot more green to mean growth and healing. Accents of gold and some dark reds too, to me these books are very color forward and for him and the later books its all greens and reds and golds, which is all the pinterest for him looks like. Also when he's crowned he wears a big halo thing that is vertical and hovers behind him that goes around his head when you look at him from the front that he sometimes puts a veil on that drapes down and covers his face and shoulders. Sometimes there are designs in the halo maybe made by his hair that make shadows on walls behind him when he is lit from the front This is a hard description to make I will just have to bite the bullet and learn how to draw one day to make sense.
Depending on the version I decide on, later on in the series he gets more harpy-like with claws and wings and I don't have super specifics of that description wise just know it might happen. Monsterfucker rights to Kieran AND Emil.
Emil is short but not tiny, there is a size difference between Kieran and Emil (Esp if I make Kieran more harpy-like) but Emil doesn’t look like a child and Kieran isn’t as wide as a fridge so its fine, they do still LOOK the same age. Anyway, he has medium tan olive skin and brown hair that is short and kind of shoulder length at the longest. Its short but its long enough to put tiny braids in httyd2-style, Phos puts tiny braids in his hair when she’s bored and he’s busy. I don’t have specifics on his hair style but its definitely laying down and fluffy and not like gelled and upright or styled or anything. He could have a short mullet, the world is your oyster. His eyes are green, Kieran calls them emeralds bc of it but they aren’t necessarily the same shade as emeralds but they are GREEN. He also wears a lot of browns and greens and earth tones but mostly muted earth tones, I could see him wearing overalls or denim and shit too. He probably wears round glasses too if we’re honest. He has a rounder face than Kieran, he doesn’t have a baby face but it is softer than Kieran’s harsh ass angles.
He is also part fox and what exactly does this mean? He has a big bushy tail :D. I go back and forth on if he has big fox ears or not and on what his tail looks like, but its big and very fluffy. What color? Man idk. Probably a dark orange or black, whatever goes with his color scheme that is also a fox fur color, I am going to be so honest. He is also missing some fingers, he was born with only three fingers on each hand. They look like “Quincy’s Tavern”s hands on tiktok if you need a reference. He can do pretty much anything with them, he was born with them and was full of spite so he manages perfectly fine. He has also lost the lower part of one of his legs, this was lost on the mission the group had to protect him. He has a prosthetic which is also sort of like the one Hiccup wears in httyd, its not exactly like it but it is a contraption that he built himself that works on a spring and can be interchangeable. It does make his leg where it connects to, sore and red by the end of the day and yes Kieran does massage it for him sometimes. I like the idea of his hands or the bottom of his foot having paw pads like a fox and his fingers having longer, claw-like nails, but that isn’t confirmed either. Kieran and his harsh, bronze, harpy-like hands and Emil with his soft fox paw pads and missing fingers. Holding hands.
