beautiful! what kind of driftwood is that?

It’s actually two pieces of grapevine reptile wood from Petco (ones that were not chemically treated) that I lashed together with fishing line. It was cheap and I was younger then. I don’t know that I would necessarily recommend grapevine as an aquarium driftwood now.

It took a long time to leech all the tannins out (we soaked it in a rubbermaid for about a month, with almost daily hot water changes), and after placing it in the tank the first time (sans fish), it grew a clearish white fungus after about a week (which is normal for grapevine, apparently). We scrubbed it off in a bleach bath, re-soaked it for another week in treated water, and replaced it in the tank (again sans fish). It grew a smaller amount of the same fungus after another week, which I just scrubbed off in the tank, and we haven’t seen it since. But, grapevine is a very soft wood, so it does rot easily in some cases. We originally got it because we had a bristlenose pleco that liked the softer wood fibers, but, it still looks good now, and it seems like it’s easy for other plants to get their roots into to grow.

If you have the time and patience, you can find some really pretty pieces of grapevine to put together (and my shrimp LOVE it), but there are definitely drawbacks.

I used to do this a lot in school.  There was this one girl named Kelly that I was too polite to decline her requests to hang out, I didn’t want to hurt her feelings because no one really hung out with her.  She was a miserable creature oh my god.  I was still closeted at the time and she would spew the worst homophobic garbage.

Before you go and say shit about someones art, how about you come off anon first and then say it to their face? 

Oh, what’s that, you’re too scared to do it? Wow, I guess that says a lot about you as a person. 

Now see here, Amma is an amazing person and has been doing this her entire life. You. Have. No. Say on her level of talent because you’re too pussy to say it to her face; Amma is a fantastic artists and literally works her ass off to bring you guys content or make you guys these bitty dolls, and this is how some of you repay her? Fucking despicable. Amma, your art is fantastic and has literally inspired me to pick up a pen/pencil, and try my hand at traditional art again. Your art style is beautiful, you’re a wonderful and beautiful person behind your persona. 

You have so many wonderful friends and fans, and even though I haven’t known you for long, I’ll stick up for you whenever and do what I can for you because you are that great. 

And this goes for the rest of you artists out there. Don’t let those pussy anons get you down, just remember: if they’re too scared to come off anonymous to say shit to your face, then they’re not worth worrying about. Just know that your friends and fans will always be there to support you along the way, because you are all fantastic. <3

I don’t care if I get hate for this, I got nothing to lose on this blog. If I get chased off, I’ll come back under a new name and new face. ;)
