Overwhelmed, but enthused.

When I look through my Korean book, I realize there's so much for me to learn. That's just it, so much. I'm retaining the Korean alphabet system at a surprisingly consistent rate, but there are some things that are slowing my process. For instance, diphthongs, when to use giyeok or kieuk, and when four symbols are necessary in a word. Maybe it's all memorization, but my brain is trying to figure out a pattern that I am not seeing. However, I must say, Korean excites me. When I write in it, I feel as if it's a secret code. When I speak it, I like the way the tone bounces up a down, fluctuating in ways that I never notice in English. I believe Korean is such a beautiful language and I will try my best to train my tongue, ears, and mind to accept it as well as it accepts English.
