( while karin swears nothing is wrong, there is something very, very wrong. she has resorted to avoidance as her reaction. )

gold eyes throw a distasteful gaze towards her. always meddling. the great lord shrugs off the inclining of sweat on his back, the run in a little too close for his taste. jaken is cowering in the trees above them, having failed sesshomaru for the upteenth time but rin clings closely to his leg, staring up at shoko in wonder. (no matter how many times sesshomaru tells her otherwise, the little girl by his legs cannot help but be enamored by the thorn in his side. this woman) his lips curl into a faint, fake smile. ❝ i am not one to sing praises of gratitude to the likes of you. ❞ arrogance is his best friend, why should he admit that perhaps he should be thankful that she saved him from the clutches of naraku's demonic bugs intent on draining sesshomaru dry. rin nudges hm, the movement so quick sesshomaru would not have noticed. his inner beast groans. she's urging him to reconsider his words as sesshomaru clenches his teeth. ❝ perhaps i will return the favor one day, then your cruelty will not be questioned. then you'll have nothing to hold against me. ❞ it's as close as a thank you as he's willing to give, holding rin close.

yasu found himself contemplating how exactly to ask this. he's not a special grade — he's made a point not to be. the down side to this, however, is that he's almost always on a need to know basis. in the case of itadori yuji, the general consensus was that he didn't need to know a thing.

curiosity won out, though. gojo was strangely protective of sukuna's vessel, and the higher ups were all the more eager to have him executed. now that he's 'dead', everything seems back to normal.

still, rumors were powerful. yasu vaguely remembered gojo went as far as to directly threaten them over okkotsu just last year. he couldn't imagine he'd have no reaction to itadori being killed right under his nose. his suspicion, therefore, was that itadori somehow didn't die. but that raised more questions than gojo's lack of reaction did.

he doesn't think shouko will tell him if he's alive or not. but now that he's pronounced dead, yasu thinks he might be able to learn something about who he 'was'.

« shouko - san, » he signed, « do you have a minute? i was wondering if we could talk about the kid that died a little while ago. »

he's been away for a whopping six days. gojo is often capable of being away for longer, but he isn't exactly someone who rushes when he doesn't have to. to do a job in and of itself was usually a matter of seconds for the universally - acclaimed strongest jujutsu sorcerer, but that didn't factor in for the time it took to solve the mystery of a curse beforehand, which often took a day or two. and then, of course, there was the sightseeing. gojo never went on a job anywhere without taking a little vacation and picking up a few souvenirs.

when shouko appears in his office, he's sitting at her chair, striking his cutest pose — she's not strong enough to flip him out of his seat, so he can bat his lashes as he pleases ( this welcome tactic wouldn't work so well on say, nanami ).

    ❛     ━━ i gots training with gojo - sensei after this . . .   ❜   it is always in seiji's nature to speak simply.     ❛   he says that me and yuuta - senpai are too fidgety.     ❜   they're too nervous to be special grades. seiji doesn't really know what a special grade is supposed to do. she's been marked one for years - still not a clue.

she's on shoko's examination table. seiji gets checks to make sure she's not hurting herself intentionally as she has in the past. it's also to make sure none of the injuries from SEI-ji have been planted too permanently on her body. ( she's a protective mother. )

it physically pains him to come to her like this, the facade of a man capable of the utmost independence stumbling into her room like a drunk. (he's not, of course. but itachi would prefer inebriation to blindness.) desperation brings her to his door, when he can count the people he trusts on one hand. taking in the quick visions one by one, staggered spots of blackness cloud his vision as he leans against the what feels like a door for support. his cloak tight against his body, the sensation of light headedness only quickly fading as he recedes backward. ❝ i appreciate your ability to state the obvious. ❞ itachi jokes. a curt reply. shoko doesn't deserve his callousness, not when all he can really trust is her. kisame has picked up on it, the sudden moments where itachi has to excuse himself because the pain is too much. it's slowly killing him. the curse. he wouldn't dare to tell anyone — to admit that itachi uchiha had a weakness would bring many to his doorstep. so he goes to her. one of the only friends he really is — actually, the only one. he sighs in defeat, head low. ❝ it's gotten worse. i can barely see. ❞ teeth grit. ❝ i came to you because whatever you did last time worked. ❞ you're the only one who knows about this shoko. the only one i trust. ❝ can you . . . please do it again? ❞

𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬𝐧'𝐭 𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐚 𝐠𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 . although naoya was well - aware of whom shoko ieiri was and her skill with reverse cursed technique , her opinion as someone he deemed lesser than himself was invalid . to be honest he didn't understand why satoru and her were close ; she seemed so disinterested and apathetic to everything she may as well have just been taking up space . but if she meant something to his childhood friend then he'd make an effort to be nice .... later . ❛ ah , ieiri - san , maybe you're not used to smelling something other than all those dead bodies you're surrounded with in the morgue ♡ , ❜ he says to her , a feigned niceness in his tone as he finally turns to look at her . naoya's expression shifts into judgement , eyes looking her up and down as he scoffs with discontent . ❛ or maybe it's from all the cigarette smoke that comes out every time you speak , ❜ he adds before his smirk widens .
