Kildarton 100th Anniversary - Flower Festival
For this event, i will not take any credit for, i only took the photographs for this event, the event is for the 100th anniversary for Kildarton Orange Order lodge number 540. Below now is some infermation from about the lodge it self
"KILDARTON TEMPERANCE L.O.L. No.540
This Lodge was formed following a disagreement in LOL No.114 when some members left to form a Lodge of their own. They met and decided to erect a hall and elect their officers. However, since they had no warrant it was really a hall building Committee.
A site was obtained and a hall erected in 1911 which was named Kildarton Protestant Hall. The members then transferred to LOL No.184 in Armagh where they remained until 1912 when Wor Bro James Irwin, Worshipful District Master and several other District Officers came to Kildarton Protestant Hall along with all the brethren who wished to form a new Lodge.
The District was opened and a warrant bearing the number 540 was issued to Bro Thomas Henry Irwin as Worshipful Master of the new Lodge and the election of officers was duly carried out.
It was agreed to start a flute band in 1913 which continued until 1937 when it changed to a part accordion band which, due to a shortage of players, has now closed down.
Since the Lodge was formed it has had four banners all bearing the same portrait, that of the burning of Latimer and Ridley. What a glorious testimony for all to follow!
Each year a Divine Service is held two Sundays prior to the Twelfth Demonstration when brethren walk the short distance from Lough Lane to Kildarton Parish Church.
Through its history the Lodge has had many esteemed members who have given long service; some having served in high office at District level. The present Deputy Master, Wor Bro Roy Pillow, is a member of LOL No.540."
