Kildarton 100th Anniversary - Flower Festival
For this event, i will not take any credit for, i only took the photographs for this event, the event is for the 100th anniversary for Kildarton Orange Order lodge number 540. Below now is some infermation from about the lodge it self
"KILDARTON TEMPERANCE L.O.L. No.540
This Lodge was formed following a disagreement in LOL No.114 when some members left to form a Lodge of their own. They met and decided to erect a hall and elect their officers. However, since they had no warrant it was really a hall building Committee.
A site was obtained and a hall erected in 1911 which was named Kildarton Protestant Hall. The members then transferred to LOL No.184 in Armagh where they remained until 1912 when Wor Bro James Irwin, Worshipful District Master and several other District Officers came to Kildarton Protestant Hall along with all the brethren who wished to form a new Lodge.
The District was opened and a warrant bearing the number 540 was issued to Bro Thomas Henry Irwin as Worshipful Master of the new Lodge and the election of officers was duly carried out.
It was agreed to start a flute band in 1913 which continued until 1937 when it changed to a part accordion band which, due to a shortage of players, has now closed down.
Since the Lodge was formed it has had four banners all bearing the same portrait, that of the burning of Latimer and Ridley. What a glorious testimony for all to follow!
Each year a Divine Service is held two Sundays prior to the Twelfth Demonstration when brethren walk the short distance from Lough Lane to Kildarton Parish Church.
Through its history the Lodge has had many esteemed members who have given long service; some having served in high office at District level. The present Deputy Master, Wor Bro Roy Pillow, is a member of LOL No.540."

So the flower festival is all about as i said it is for the celebration of their 100th anniversary, the festival ran from the 20th of April to 22nd of April. The festival was designed and co-ordinated by Linda Lyons and set-up and ran but many others who are close to the lodge.
The festival is split up in too 9 exhibitions, 1: The bible, 2: The Swords, 3: The Dinners, 4: The Arch, 5: The Jubilee, 5: Band and Music, 7: The Banner, 8: God is Light and 9: Memorial.
So the flowers cover the full range and aspects of the Orange Order, its history and runnings off.

You may not no but this year the cultural Olympics, what ever that is lol, i thought it was something to do with the sporting Olympics but i was wrong lol, but about the light, so Yvette Mattern came up with this, a 7 coloured laser light show, the colours of the rainbow. It took part over 3 night in March in 2012, many people took the step walk up to Scrabo Tower, late at night to see the show over the town of Newtownards.

This is my current shutter actuations on the 5d2 and she is still live and click away
on some canon cameras you can't do it on some of the camera sadly you need a bit of software to do so, this is how you do it
CLICK HERE - download the software of your mac or pc install it plug in your usb cable open the software turn your camera on then click GET COUNT
and right beside the button you will get your shutter actuations.
Its good to keep eye on this, just keeping a track of how many photographs your taking at a time. i don't think many people will get to over 150k worth of photographs, thats the sort of range you may start getting problems at.
so enjoy your clicking!
New Gear
So in the past few days i have took some new camera kit off some shops hands, they were happy to take my money, so what is it you might ask il start of with the cheeper item first.
I dont know if anyone uses the stand strap that comes with there camera, i never have and never will, they are the worst items ever, i normal don't like straps as there is no good way on having them on your body, fully over the head you feel just like someone on holiday, getting snaps and then there is over the body, general there too short and you can't move the camera. So i came across the BLACK RAPID RS-7, it got good reports from FroKnowsPhoto.com, so i thought i would order one and give it a go, only got it and only tried it on, going out today, to give it a good test, on a sunday morning.
Now for the second bit of new kit, this one cost a bit more than the strap, but I'm hoping it going to be a good one. It is a bit of glass, new glass is always nice to have, I went for a SIGMA 85MM F/1.4 and she is pretty, very pretty. Ive only tested it once of twice in the last few days, so its coming out with me today on my walk about Belfast.
when i come home i will post up my report, my view and my photographs, from home the new gear went.
