Okay, let’s talk for a second about the ambush squad in the Kill Room scene.
In the pull back shot when the team is lying dead, you can count 12 shooters. If you count the individual kills by the team after they come back to life, there’s 16. (I’m not here to be pedantic about continuity, I’m just trying to come up with rough numbers.) Then the 6 guys they kill in the compound before they breach the kill room. So let’s go low and say 18 guys.
How did Copley decide who he was going to use for the job? Like he’s a decent guy, despite what he does to the team, and he already has serious suspicions about the teams’ powers, so he must know that he’s potentially setting these 18 guys up to die. And definitely setting the 6 on patrol up to die.
Does he actually hire the job out to South Sudanese bad guys? Good way to get rid of the bad guys, but no guarantee they do the job or keep quiet after if the team turns out to not be immortal.
A group of mercs? Would be reasonable if he knew of one that was unscrupulous about the jobs they take, but with a reputation to get things done. Not unlikely given his time at the CIA that he would know of a group like that and how to contact them.
Maybe (and this is my personal hc) a group of American Private Security? It would jive with the American accents you hear before they are all killed. Copley would certainly know how to hire them. And as a pretty good guy working for the CIA, he’d certainly have seen how dirty most of these groups are and know the worst of them. So hire them, get proof of the group’s immortality, and wipe a few shit stains off the planet in the process without endangering any innocents.
What do you all think?
