Imagine Avon from Blake's 7 as Geralt of Rivia, Vila as Jaskier, and they're in a fantasy universe with ghosts.

The book is Kill the Dead by Tanith Lee.

Kill the Dead is a fantasy novel written by Tanith Lee about an exorcist called Parl Dro, who is very clearly based on Paul Darrow and aspects of his Avon portrayal. Another character is apparently based on Michael Keating's portrayal of Vila. As such it has a few stories on AO3 both in its own right and that also play with references to the Blake's 7 universe

B7 references aside, it's an excellent and moving story even if you don't give two hoots for B7, but I am possibly biased as I read a lot of Tanith Lee.

The art above was for the original DAW paperback release and is by Don Maitz. I own both the paperback novel and a Maitz artbook featuring this art.

The style and mood of your lovely picture was such that it just immediately reminded me of the novel. :-)
