Whatever story this man is trying to spin is halted in place with a raised hand. “Before we continue, I should remind you that attorney/client privilege doesn’t extend to consultations.” But Dolores is sure that a guy like Clark Thompson is already aware of that.  The white collar crime of Wall Street is a bit beyond her scope. It's all about rich people getting richer and dodging taxes and embezzlement charges, not at all what she's interested in, but she’s agreed to at least hear him out. Getting up from her seat, she circles around her desk, high heels clicking against the linoleum of her office, and places herself directly in front of Clark. “I don't need details (yet), but do you at all feel like you're in danger?”

If she wasn’t such a professional, she might have quit right on the spot. One- three- five- even ten boxes of files she can handle in a limited time-frame if she plans her day right and sends Louis out on coffee runs. Thirty-seven cardboard boxes nearly bursting at the seams isn’t just a tall order, it’s a goddamn skyscraper.   Dolores claps her manicured hands together, draws a sharp breath in and slowly releases it like the action is singularly the only thing keeping her from losing her cool all together (hey, at least smoke isn’t coming out of her ears). “Look,” she pivots from the veritable barricade of documentation to Clark, her tone tinged with the kind of irritation that suggests she may need a smoke break before she’s even started, “You’re going to have to work with me here if you want me to get through all of this in a timely manner. So would you please just explain to me how your system works?” Because it sure as hell isn’t alphabetical or chronological from a quick glance.

She shrugs in response. “It was just a question.”  Having her clients express hesitance with sharing information isn’t a foreign concept to Dolores. It’s expected, actually. Most of the time it comes from a place of either fear or embarrassment for what they may or may not have done, but that’s not what’s happening here. No, this is more of a personal curiosity. “It’s just in my experience when a guy wears sunglasses at night, they’re usually either possessed or Stevie Wonder.” She brings her mug to her lips, but keeps her eyes on Clark like she’s daring him to say something to the contrary.

     There wasn’t a lot of people at the coffee shop for once, honestly it was a miracle that Amanda was up before three in the afternoon. This town was small, and when you were a stripper in it; people knew. The whispers never stopped, and for the most part all the brunette could do was give them the boldest ‘fuck you’ look she could give and take her coffee and run. “Extra large, two sugars, cream... Oh hey! Didn’t think you were working today,” She smiles warmly, at least there’s one good thing.
