Alright like a concept where Gwilym is planning to propose to the reader but all of his plans just goes wrong and because he's being so secret the reader suspects that he might be cheating on her and they end up in a fight and Gwilym ends up accidentally proposing while they're mad at each-other and just.. lots of love and fluff and happy endings 🥰
Yes! I got carried away, sorry 🙈
Gwilym has it all planned. Nice dinner out, a rooftop suite in the most expensive hotel with rose petals covering every inch of the floor and the most magical view of the city, he even booked a string quartet which is supposed to be prepared to start playing on the street when you pass them, so that you can dance in the warm evening air. He called his family and yours and asked them to be ready to meet you both in the hotel restaurant for brunch the day after the engagement so that you could celebrate the big event together.
But he’s so secretive about it. He leaves the room every time he picks up the phone. And when he’s not on the phone, it keeps constantly dinging with new messages and you have to suppress the urge to look at them. He also refuses to tell you where he’s going, or what’s he going to do. It’s driving you crazy. You’re not a jealous type, but Gwil’s being so suspicious! When he tells that he’s going to meet up with the boys and Ben calls you later to ask you how you’ve been and that you should get together, that he hasn’t heard from you or Gwil in ages, you just go to pieces. You collapse on the floor, tears falling freely down from your eyes. You can’t believe it. He can’t be, he can’t be chea-
You hear a key turning in the front door. You angrily wipe your tears and storm into the hall. After he closes the door and turns around, Gwil is taken aback by your appearance. Hair a mess and blotted eyes, you stab an accusing finger into his chest and cry out, “where have you been?”
“With the guys,” he says, confused at what has gotten into you.
“Don’t you dare lie to me! Ben called. Wanted to know when we all were going to see again. Where. Have. You. Been?”
“I, I…” he looks around as if he could find the answer inscribed on the coat stand or shoe rack.
“Who is she?” Your words are a mere whisper. Tears running down your cheek, you don’t let your gaze drop and stare into his eyes with your head held high.
“What? Wait, what, you think I’m cheating on you?!” His eyes are wide open and he runs his hand through his hair, looking at you in disbelief.
“It definitely seems so.” Oh, you’re cold. And partly proud that your voice has almost stopped trembling. There are several feet between you, but it seems like miles.
“I would never do anything like that! How can you accuse me of something so horrible?!”
“Then why have you been acting so weird lately? Why, Gwil, why?!” You’re screaming now; all neighbours can probably hear you, but you don’t care. “Tell me, Gwil!”
“Because I want to marry you!”
“What?” Now it’s your turn to stare dumbfounded.
“I want to marry you! I meant to ask you tonight. And I’ve been acting that way ‘cause I tried to arrange the whole thing!” He starts pacing the hall, his hands pulling at his face as he drags them down his skin. You’re still in shock. “I want to marry you. There’s nothing else in the world that could make me happier than to have the privilege to call you my wife.”He stops suddenly and turns to you, closing the distance between you two in an instance as he cradles your face in his hands, tilting your head up for you to look him in the eyes.
“Will you marry me?” he asks gently and his eyebrows rise as he gazes at you with utmost affection, waiting for your response. His voice is as soft as his fingers on your cheeks.
A sob escapes your mouth and you start crying again. You can’t find your voice, but you do your best. “Yes,” you answer tearfully, the single syllable fighting its way through the lump in your throat.
“Yes?” He smiles and you can see tears forming in his eyes as well.
You just nod furiously and pulls him to you, kissing him deeply. Your heart is pounding in your chest even though your brain has a problem processing the whole thing.
He places soft kisses on your eyelids, forehead, cheeks, nose, and mouth, apologising for the lies and secretiveness between kisses.
But he’s already forgiven. And you know one thing for sure. Nothing in the whole world can make you happier than to call Gwilym your husband.
