Inktober Nr. 12 - Whale
Orca - Frauen Cropped Hoodie
Hey everone! Here a special request!
My name was shortlisted as a name for Springer's new calf. It's "Pinhorn" after Pinhorn Islet in Nodales Channel. Nodales (A51) was a female from the A25 matriline and she was the one who cared for little Springer when she returned to her native waters. She played an important role in the successful reintroduction of Springer. Sadly Nodales passed away in 2011 and her matriline will die out if her only calf Cordero is a boy.
I would feel so honored if you voted for my name, but I know that the other suggestions are good as well :)
You can vote now for a name for L119!

Cypress: Cypress Island is in Rosario Strait, halfway between the mainland and the San Juan Islands

The two calves that were born in the A1 and A4 Pod received their name. The northern resident calves are usually named after they survived two winters (different from the southern residents, calves receive their names after they survive one winter).
A99 was born to Clio (A50) in 2011 and is Clio's third offspring. The older siblings are 14 year old female Bend (A72) and 8 year old Klaoitsis (A84). He/She received the name Alder.
A100 was born to Sunny (A70) in 2011. He/She is now called Kwatna and Sunny's first calf.
Both calves can now be adopted via the Vancouver Aquarium. Thanks to Lenya from SWG who found out about the new names of the babies!
