[initial reactions] Killjoys 4x04 - What to expect when you’re expecting... an alien parasite
I love this show. Like, unabashedly joy for this show.
Last episode was obviously a filler episode and god this one was so clearly not and it broke my heart and then put it back again.
‘She clearly can’t give consent this ends now!’
Did I ever mention how much I love that in this ‘verse, and in Team Awesome Force, consent and choice are important?
The first was Johnny choosing to end his own torment, and then Dutch and D’avin were able to honor (after much fear and heartache) by fulfilling their promise to ‘do everything they can’. Even if it meant that Johnny died.
And then D’avin stopping the blood transfusion to Delle Seyah because she wasn’t conscious to choose.
Also! Also! Delle Seyah really loves Aneela and god that montage of her time with Aneela-- you get such strong feelings which is actually logical since the green is flowing out of Delle Seyah.
Oh, did I forget to mention? Delle Seyah is human again, and oh boy I did not see that coming! And I’m also so worried about Delle Seyah now! What happens to her now? I also wondered why Delle Seyah mentioned being Qresh when that didn’t matter to her last season, and I got it. It was foreshadowing to what will happen to Delle Seyah.
‘She looks so much like her.’
God, Delle Seyah loves Aneela so much -- Aneela who willingly let herself get left behind to save Dutch. Dutch swearing to Delle Seyah she’d save Aneela was everything and then holding Delle Seyah’s hand as she’s about to give birth. It was a really good parallel to Delle Seyah spurning D’avin’s offer to hold her hand.
But you know the other thing I love? I love that in this show, no death goes unremarked and forgotten. I love that they still all remember Pawter, I admit, as fans I forget that it was Delle Seyah who killed Patter, I am so glad they keep reminding her of that.
I honestly hope that they don’t kick Delle Seyah out of the family :((
- Who knew I would like D’avin so much now? Like, wow, talk about really good writing and character development! D’avin is such a far cry from where he started from and it’s all because the writing never let him down; and never let him get away with it by having Johnny constantly keeping him accountable.
- Guys, Johnny’s so scared Dutch and D’avin leaving him.
- Zeph! Zeph has come a long, long way and I love her. She’s such a good addition to Team Awesome Force!
- The Pree and Delle Seyah showdown! Two Queens facing off! Of course Delle Seyah overpowered Pree but he still managed to win the sass off!
- OMG GUYS THE LADY IS GOING TO WINTER SOLDIER JOHNNY! Now I get why Dutch shot Johnny (and it wasn’t my theory that Dutch was actually there in Johnny’s head); but it was much worse! The Lady tortured Dutch with Johnny’s image. ‘Who the hells is Johnny?’
ALSO, THE WRITERS ARE SUCH NERDS. I LOVE THEM.
- ANEELA SAVING DUTCH, ANEELA FACING OFF WITH THE LADY. ANEELA REALLY TRULY CARING FOR DUTCH.
I LOVE EVERYONE IN THIS BAR.
- Also, why in seven hells aren’t the Killjoys crew in SDCC?????????????????? In any SDCC?????
