I must say, my favorite thing about being bi and in an m/f relationship was people constantly assuming we were straight.

i am a bisexual who has only ever dated men, you really dont need to tell me about this as if i don’t know the struggle. however i also know that i was able to kiss my boyfriend, hold his hand, and show affection to him in public without worrying that i was getting nasty looks from homophobes or fearing for my safety. in a society that prioritizes m/f relationships over same-gender relationships, m/f relationships are inherently safer. it sucked that people erased my sexuality and it sucked that people assumed i was straight, but i also knew that it was a privilege that i could kiss my partner in public (in the south, no less) and not fear for my life. 

my only point throughout this entire debate was that it’s silly to act as if you aren’t in a more powerful position when you’re in a m/f relationship because when you live in this society, you just are. this society is biphobic and doesn’t recognize bisexuality so my sexuality would never come into play as long as i was with a man.

so yeah, i didn’t like that my sexuality was erased or people thought i was straight, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t inherent privilege in being able to hold hands with my partner when there are bisexuals in same-gender relationships who can’t do that out of very warranted fear.

That depends on what you mean by “belong”. I mean, daily, I think I belong at home, because that’s where it’s safest and the most comfortable but in general I might just belong with other creative people. People who can teach me things and inspire me to be better that I am now?

Peter Pan Something from my childhood I still love.

I still really love art and clothes. My clothes aren’t as big of a deal to me now as they were when I was little but I still really love them. And I still draw every day which is important now, being that I hope to tattoo eventually

I love you so so much! You’re seriously the coolest mom on the planet and being on the internet and seeing a lot of peoples’ relationships with their moms only further verified that for me. Lastly, I hope you still get that reference. Because that movie is our life right now.
