Made a little open faced mold to try out some glass kiln casting. If this goes well I might make a bunch more. I’m thinking about the process of exploration and our human tendencies to push into places that we don’t belong.

These glass implements cast in a massed-produced form, each with a discrete pattern of copper or brass inclusions, represent robotic information-gathering tools of the future. As data is used to make change, so the inclusions undergo chemical changes in the firing process. Such tools can be sent to any location to record such data as pollution levels, viruses, holes in the ecosystem and more, analyzing it through distributed computing. The tools, to be widely available for use by individuals and activists, reflect our need to understand our local environment and global influences.
