Today's timeline post will be done in reverse order.

First, it's happy 12th birthday to Trua! That photo by SeaWorld is over a year old, and he's an even bigger guy now. Second calf of Takara and first of Taku, he's the grandson of Kasatka, Kotar, Katina and Tilikum, and today he's mostly close to Kayla, and the two often do segments together with Malia.

On a sadder note, on the very same day, Marineland Antibes' breeding bull Kim 2, died from pneumonia at the age of 24. He was the father of all calves born there up until his death.

And finally, 33 years ago in 1984, Nandu and Samoa were moved from their holding location in Iceland, to Aquarama São Paolo, and they became the first and so far only killer whales on display in Brazil.

March 6th

Today it’s 34 years since Valentin’s parents, Freya and Kim 2, came to Marieland Antibes from Iceland, and joined Betty from five years earlier.

October 7th

47 years ago, Ramu 4 arrived at Marineland Australia. He was a replacement for Ramu 2, who had only lived there for two months.

It is also 44 years since Nootka 2 (no photo known, she was an adult Southern resident from K-pod) was sent to start a breeding program with Haida at Sealand of the Pacific.

And 35 years ago today, three young whales were caught in Stokkseyri, Iceland. They were one male and two females, 1-2 years old, and were eventually named Freya, Kim 2 and Haida 2.

20 years ago, in 1997, Maggie died at Kamogawa Sea World following stillbirth complications.
