New audio has been added to WFUV.org of Jonathan, Lea Michele, John Gallagher Jr, Lauren Pritchard and Duncan Sheik being interviewed for an hour on public radio just after the opening of Spring Awakening in 2007, the day after the Virgin Megastore appearance. Sheik is the focus of the interview. The cast aren't introduced until 12.00 and Jonathan doesn't speak (except to introduce himself) until 35.50. Jonathan sings 'Left Behind' at 38.25 and talks about 'In My Life' (and sings a little) at 44.50.
Ten years after Duncan Sheik burst on the scene with his debut album (which included the Grammy-nominated song, "Barely Breathing"), he earned Tony and Grammy awards for his work on the Broadway musical, "Spring Awakening," Soon after it opened, Duncan brought the four, then-unknown leads (Jonathan Grof, Lea Michele, John Gallagher, Jr., and Laura Pritchard) to WFUV for a studio session. They talked about its long journey to becoming a hit and performed several songs, accompanied by piano and cello. It remains one of my all-time favorite sessions!
