DnD Hot Takes That No One Asked For (Because it’s almost 1AM and I heard a scary noise, so I can’t sleep)

Spellcaster subclasses should not be bound to the same casting ability as their base class

Lore bards, star druids, and knowledge (or arcana) clerics? They are the researchers and scholars of their respective classes, so being INT based would be more appropriate.

Oath of the Ancients paladins, four elements monks, and storm sorcerers? Being nature-based subclasses, they should have the same casting ability as druids: WIS.

Bladesinger wizards, swords bards, and hexblade warlocks? Weaponry and fancy footwork sounds more fitting for DEX.

I’m sure I could think of others if I wasn’t so tired.

Is it weird that I find myself pondering what Pokémon my DnD characters would have? Asking for a friend who might just actually be me.

If you'd told me 5 years ago, back when I started playing DnD, that my character would someday become an official, professionally made mini that other people would be able to buy, I would never have believed it. But here we are. 😍

Controversial opinions about DnD stuff- Shooting a target that's 5 feet in front of you should not impose disadvantage. If anything, you should get advantage because hitting something at point-blank range would be easier than hitting it from a distance depending on the weapon.

Hero Forge has wheelchairs now. o.o I repeat, HeroForge has wheelchairs. And, apparently, Sara Thompson (creator of the Combat Wheelchair) was a consultant on the designs.

I will probably never have this mini. Why? Because my Shadowrun game is being run online. But this is my character for it. Aria Fischer, street shaman extraordinaire, was born and raised in Seattle's Ork Underground. Eldest of the Fischer children, she and her brother Jon became runners right around the same time (after Jonny noped the frag out of the Knights Errant).

Her specialty (besides using Animate Plastic to steal keycards and cred sticks) is summoning spirits. Though, when she summons them, her eyes tend to change to match theirs.

When she's not on a job or doing card tricks on the street, she can be found at any karaoke bar in Seattle.

At the beginning of this month, I entered a contest on Strata Miniatures. It was a short-story contest, where one would feature a DnD character who was a combat wheelchair user. I thought Selenia, my halfling bard, would be perfect for such a thing. Apparently the judges agreed because not only did my story make it into the top 3, but I WON!!!!!

I’ve been freaking out a bit since I read the announcement. But I’m also kinda in a state of ‘is this real?’. This sorta thing doesn’t happen to me. Like...ever. So to have it happen now is just...mind-blowing. I cried a bit when I first read the announcement, not gonna lie.

Two months ago, I’d never even heard of Shadowrun. Now that I’m getting ready to join a campaign of it, it’s suddenly frickin’ everywhere. XD
