Dear The 100 writers,
In the beginning killing off characters wasn’t that big of a deal. It was understood as a way to show the harshness of the situation at hand. But I am here to inform you that the death of a character is now just really annoying. It has gotten to the point where I am convinced that you don’t know how to write off a character without killing them. Now I’m not just talking about Lexa's death because that is a whole different category that we’ve already covered. No I’m talking about these people:
Lexa
Lincoln
Titus
Anya
Finn Collins
Costia
Wells Jaha
Maya
Charlotte
Gina Martin
Zoe Monroe
Atom
Tris
Jake Griffin
Fox
Gustus
Myles
plus hundreds more
You killed all these people off and what for: The Story. Yeah sure in the beginning people died and yeah some deserved to die but constantly killing off character after character after character is just...well...tiring.
The major part of the fandom left after Lexa’s death and we know why. But also it’s because the blinders we kept on were lifted. After you killed off the one little shred of happiness in this show we saw the show for what it is: Exhausting.
There is no smiling or joking or any form of happy anymore. The first season was about survival, the second season was about freeing the people, but the third season is just sadness. There is no one goal, no main focus, just you guys killing left and right because you can.
And that’s why your show will not last. Because killing a character to move the story forward isn’t interesting anymore. Because making people “feel” isn’t making the audience walk away with a sinking form of depression and sadness week after week. Because this show is tiring.
I’m starting to wonder what the real threat is on this show: The Ice Nation, Pike, Alie or you, the writers.
Sincerely,
A very tired fan human
Please don't sell your kidney. Sell you're enemy's kidney; in case things go south again. Find someone worthy of having their kidney taken -cough- Jason -cough- and steal it. Then sell his kidney on the black market.
You know what, that’s not a bad idea at all, anon.
But in all seriousness, if Kim Shumway made a show, I’d watch it no matter what it would be about. I just know it would be at least 10 times better storytelling and her characters would be treated with respect.
I'm just... Really sad because Lexa and the positive queer representation were the only two escapes from my depression
@kimshum @the100writers
That was the most hardcore queerbaiting I have ever seen
I feel genuinely betrayed...like even if Clexa was never your "endgame" as far as writing the story goes, did you really have to kill a character so many underrepresented women feel such a kinship with? A character that we put so much faith into? like, Lexa was honestly one of my favorite characters of all time even without the romance and y'all just...killed her in what was the probably the most clichéd way possible. And yeah it's just a show but damn my heart is just kinda broken af rn.
im going to start planning my funeral (x)
Subtle hint at what’s to come? ;-)
