I don’t know who needs to hear this, but I want to remind kin folks that just because they experience the same or similar trauma in this life, doesn’t mean they are “doomed” or being “punished” by the universe. Trauma is a complicated and horrible thing to deal with, in any life. As someone who has found multiple connections between exotrauma and trauma in this life, I think it can be really easy to feel particularly discouraged.
Healing is worth it, and it is still possible. Never forget that you are incredibly strong, even if it doesn’t feel that way. Because not only have you survived this life, you had survived previous ones too. Even ones that ended badly, you still fought until your very last. So when you are feeling very hopeless, thinking about how many times you’ve been through a particular situation, remember your strength. There is no time like the present either, and if things ended badly last time, it does not mean it will this time. Do what your past self couldn’t, you do have the power, it’s in you. Bad situations make healing incredibly hard, but it’s not impossible. In time, all things change and often for the better. Even if you cannot see the light now, it’s down there somewhere. Keep moving, and someday, your good days will finally outweigh the bad.
