Hey, thank you for the correction! My source on that was a Mental Floss article, and it's been a solid twenty years since I took a German class, so I saw "kinderschema" written out and thought 'okay that checks out,' without hunting any further. It seems to be a semi-common mistake; upon googling further, there are loads of articles making reference to it under that spelling which is... embarrassing, but pretty on-par for Americans.

As far as I know, there's not a word for it in English. Neoteny comes close to the phenomenon, but that doesn't properly encompass the 'you are baby and I want to hold you so badly' thing.
