Rebecca watched Tom come through door, looking dog tired. She had been looking through baby name books that she got from the library, but immediately pushed them under the pillow so he wouldn't see. She didn't want to remind him.

He walked over and sat on the edge of the bed, rubbing his face. The blonde sat up, reaching to wrap her arms around him and pull him down beside her, ignoring that he smelled like salt and stale beer. She situated him so he was laying on her abdomen, and she ran her fingers through his hair, trying to comfort him in the only way she knew how.

"You know," she said after a moment, "you don't have to do this. No one is forcing you-- I'm certainly not. You don't have to be a father if you don't want to be. It's fine, I understand. I can figure something else out. I wouldn't be angry at all."
