valeria smiles up at justin at his offer, equally frustrated and endeared. he's just so... ugh. it's been a goddamn day and a half, jumping all over the city 'cause apparently it was a small crime convention today. or like, something.

valeria's just tired, and justin's... well. they like him. that's it. not everything has to be all complicated, okay? he's just safe, is all.

so they smile, bounce up onto the balls of their feet, and clasp their hands behind their back. "you have no idea how good that sounds."

"you just play games and talk at a camera for hours?" it's not meant to be a judgemental question, she's simply curious. "like, that's your job? that's...how you make money?" it's not really something she can imagine for a number of reasons. "does it get boring?" addy feels like it would, admittedly.

"You look good!" It wasn't a plattitude either. Of course, if Justin looked awful, Hughie would let him down gently (or awkwardly lie), but luckily he didn't have to. "You got a date or something?"

"Well, we can definitely change that," Hughie grinned. "We have shots or we have beer," he informed Justin after opening his fridge. "Or we can run to the bodega across the street if you don't want either of those."

@kineticrelief gets a lunar new year's starter.

it's a quiet new year, more so than usual. "normally, i spend the new year with my mom," marlene says after a minute. "she's away on a holiday right now. but this is nice too."

Peter knows, rather intimately, what it's like to be different. To wake up one day and know, all the way down to the marrow of your bones, that you're meant for something more. Something that matters.

He also knows how scary it can be to be able to do these kinds of things.

"Hey, kid," he calls out, one hand held out towards the other. "It's all right. Right? You've got this. You're, uh."

He thought he'd have to calm the guy down, try to talk him through it, but... well. He doesn't seem that bothered by the fact that he's levitating things. With his mind. Peter lets out a dry chuckle and grins.

"You definitely seem like you've got the hang of this."

you get all sorts of reactions, being a spider-person. spiteful hatred, undying loyalty, frantic gratitude. valeria had gotten the full spectrum over the years. starstruck praise was a pretty common one, though.

valeria smirked under their mask, halfway between amused and annoyed. it's always definitely something when someone gets all worked up. maybe it's the hormones, adrenaline and fear coursing through you can be one hell of a high to work through.

"awe, thanks," they coo, hands clasped behind their back as they stretch up to rock forward on the tip of their toes. they sway forward then, bumping the guy with their shoulder. "you should take a breath, though. you look a little flustered."

they can't help but poke fun, sometimes. you gotta mix it up every once in a while, right? besides, he seems like he'd be a good sport.

A FROWN IS LINING SOFT lips, blue eyes casting over the canvas as though he is seeing things the other ISN’T. Paint covers his hands, and there’s even a smudge on his cheek from when Matthew scratched his face. From the outside, it appears as though he’s been working hard, but he’d really been sat there for a solid thirty minutes just staring at his art like it’s bothering him.

❝ I just… there’s something wrong with it. ❞ This was NORMAL, he was always scrutinizing his work. It’s a field of flowers, mixed under hazy greens and deep purples, as though viewed from behind a curtain in a window. Heartbreaking was a beautiful way to describe the piece. ❝ What do you think it needs? ❞
