I don’t think y’all realize how easily Ezran could have started another war.
If Ezran would have marched into Xadia to find Runaan, there would have been an outrage. Runaan was a prisoner of war, the only reason he was in Katolis is because the Dragon Queen ordered him to go there. If Ezran had a problem with Runaan, he should have gone to HER. Imprisoning Runaan again was the worst thing Ezran could have done. Now, Ezran is only 12. He probably does not fully realize what he’s doing and it’s completely understandable why he’s acting this way. But goodness, one of Ezran’s advisors should have said this to him.
So Ez’s first mistake, however understandable, was keeping Runaan in Katolis. His second mistake would have been sending a SWAT team into Xadia. Now, I feel like this is a GIANT plot hole. How did they even know where The Silvergrove was? The village is invisible, only those who know the dance are able to access it. But I digress, let’s say Ezran sent his troops to The Silvergrove.
I fully believe Xadia would develop a hatred for him. Please remember that the war had only been over for two years, lots of wounds are still fresh. Human forces in Xadia would DEFINITELY rub elves the wrong way. And if they managed to use some sort of magic to get into The Silvergrove? There would have been no going back.
Moonshadow Elves are honor bound. They respected Runaan and are not meant to show fear. I think they would have fought back, there would have been bloodshed, and Ezran would have realized how badly he fucked up. I think Callum would have used every last bit of magic to make sure him and the Moonfam got out of there alive and they most likely would have been on the run again.
And just like that, Ezran would have ruined two years of peace. The Pacifist King would have committed a great act of violence. Imagine what things would have been like for Amaya and Janai? Amaya, a queen, would probably have to decide between staying out of the war or joining it either with or against her nephew.
Think about how he would have mirrored Harrow.
A human king unjustly entering Xadia being fueled by the grief of a loved one and triggering a war. Remember this all would have happened just about two or three years after the Dragon King’s death.
Yeah, let’s be glad Ezran chilled out a LITTLE bit.
