King Rockfleck has only been king of Snake's Head for a few months. The previous queen died in the war with the humans, giving the throne to Rockfleck. The problem is, he is a nervous wreck. He chose Bladescar/Ares as his patron god, and all of his visitations have involved the god of war screaming his head off about Rockfleck's poor performance. Rockfleck's chronic anxiety leads him to jump into situations without thinking them through and reacting aggressively when there's no need for aggression.
It doesn't help that he's the last cat in Snake's Head who's been trained as a soldier. Because of that, he has had to train Cinder, the only apprentice native to the city remaining, all on his own. It's just been one stressful situation after another.
