It’s Tuesday, so, ya know, #TutorialTuesday from @yoga.tutorials ✌️💙 ・・・ @catvaladezyoga on Quad Stretches (Do these before every backbend! 😍) ・・・ Ohhh my quad, loves. Tag any friend who needs this!! This is for the quad stretch enthusiasts. These deep quad stretches are NOT for beginners or the faint of heart! It does say "advanced" so that's fair warning. But, these 5 are my favorite. That's because I like intensity and I know quad muscles need just as much love as those hamstrings (more to come on that later). Notice I am using a baby bolster in almost all of these to pad my knee. Message: pad your knee!! Don't be a hero--they take you into deep flexion in that knee and it can be a lot. The more comfortable you are, the deeper you can go into the stretch. For some this can still be too much on the knees ("advanced" or not, knees are knees) so if that's you, these are not your stretches. For #kingarthurpose, start out by coming to the wall and placing your knee pointed down at the baseboard and foot up on that wall above. The opposite foot comes forward. Then you come up with hands to the floor in that lunge shape, then hands to your thigh with torso upright. Last position is shown with arms up, hips and shoulders to the wall. Take your time. This is also one of my favorite preps for one legged king pigeon 2. The #reclinedhero variation is my favorite thing ever. Recline first with both knees bent from #virasana tucking the tail bone under as you go back to protect your low back. Then, carefully slide out one foot to set it on the floor with knee pointed up. From there grab the back thigh or front of the shin as shown to go further. Watch that the leg still in hero doesn't lift-- aim it torward the floor. The others are a bit more common and self explanatory, but if you are confused about anything leave a comment!! Remember to listen to your body and that these are probably some of the most intense quad-isolating stretches out there. Are we interested in beginner or intermediate? Let me know! . . . . . #yoga #yogatutorial
