The Garden in Late April
Not been out to take many pictures lately. The camera battery is on the blink and I keep forgetting to buy a new one; Hey Ho!
This year the tulips are magnificent. Daffodils largely over but late, white ones are still looking good. Perennial wallflower is amazing when viewed up close.
Have tried unsuccessfully to remove blubells as they proliferate and are a mess of slimy leaves once the flowers have gone over but they are lovely for that couple of weeks. Reduced the kingcups in the pond as they were taking over but, again, I welcome their bright yellow flowers. Still no frogspawn, so no tadpoles; what will the newts find to eat I wonder?
Epimedium holding on. each year we cut back the old leaves to allow the flowers to be seen but the leaves re-grow so quickly that these unassuming little flowers are soon hidden again.
Lockdown has meant that the allotment has been getting lots of attention. So few weeds allowed to exist. Spuds well up and earthed daily but still slightly burnt by the unseasonallate frosts. So much ready to go out, -beans and squash, courgettes and ornamental gourds, but not until all risk of frosts have gone. So they sit on window sills and look hopefully out onto the garden, but next week (with luck) they can be out where they can spread happily.

Water’s Edge
On day 311 of 365 Days Wild I spent some time connecting with nature down at the water ‘s edge. It was a day of sunny intervals and I was lucky enough to catch a brief spell of light while I was out. The sight of sunbeams cascading over the daffodils was enough to immediately lift spirits that had been dulled by the grey skies. The afternoon sun shone beautifully on the Spring green that is now…
