Rontia Atropos (he/him)
The most ruthless King in Gokkan's history as he is always seen with a menacing scowl and piercing gaze. Given the name "The Executioner" due to the many death penalties placed during his reign.
Like Maple, Rontia is based off of a moth instead of a butterfly, the Death's-head hawkmoth to be more specific.
To be honest, the way the show kept saying there was 2000 years of peace had me feeling doubtful simply because y'know *gestures to our planet's own history in less than that*. Like i'm 100% sure there were waves of man-made issues even within countries. Gokkan would definitely have some tyrannical Kings, too, despite it's reputation.
But Rontia's reputation is very complicated. While, yes, he is ruthless in terms of subjecting many to the death penalty to a point no one can ever beat his record (or wish to), it's mainly because of his predecessor who was far too lenient to a point criminals believed they could get away with anything. His job upon taking the throne (after the previous mysteriously passed from illness) was to clean up the mess at any means necessary. His successor was given the order to let him be seen as a maniacal tyrant by the populace and historians so no other King could repeat his and his mentor's mistakes again.
Being compared to Rontia is often seen as an insult. Many would compare Rita to him because he, too, was seen as intimidating and closed-off, and even had a penchant for screaming in stressful situations which was often. Rita never shows it, but becomes very self-conscious when compared to an infamous King.
