heartbreaking scene from The King's Affection that I didn't see anyone in the tag talking about is when that rumor gets out that Ji-un and the crown prince are having an affair, and Ji-un goes to his parents house and his mom is crying and saying he has to get married to stop this rumor
and he's like 'but didn't you tell me to follow my heart' and she says 'but not like this'
I wanted to start crying, partly because of how cruel that was of her to do but also partly because I knew my own mom would be watching that scene too and not picking up on just how awful that was. his own mother told him he should live his own life and he would have her support and then clarifies that actually her support is conditional on him following the expected life plan (read: not being queer)
